Ascension St. Vincent EMS is providing free Stop the Bleed training on Sept. 4 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. on the courthouse square. Complete the training to receive either a pair of responder shears or a pack of gauze to jump-start a Stop the Bleed kit. Complete a short survey to enter to win either a complete Stop the Bleed kit or a tourniquet.

First Aid Skills at First Friday is coordinated through CrisisReady Howard County, a grassroots initiative with the goal of teaching individuals and households how to prepare for emergencies and disasters. There also will be information about CrisisReady’s upcoming presentation, scheduled for Sept. 24. Snag some of the free home emergency preparedness resources while chatting at the booth.
