Put the “Petal to the Metal” with Flowers Feed Folks and the UAW Local 685 Women’s Committee as they offer an evening of bouquet making and community engagement. On Wed., Sept. 2, from 6-8 p.m., participants will get the opportunity to put together their own attractive bouquets while helping out a good cause.

For just $5, participants will receive a bud vase, which they can use at the “bar” to create something beautiful. The vase can be refilled with attractive flowers at a later date for just $3. Arrangements also are available at the regular Bouquet Bar, where small and large arrangements can be purchased, either in a vase provided at the event or by bringing your own vase to fill.

There also will be a silent auction of various items. Door prizes will be awarded, and the UAW 685 Women’s Committee will be selling slushies.

Proceeds from this event will benefit Flowers Feed Folks, a local nonprofit working to “sow the seeds of community and establish the roots of food sovereignty for Howard County.” The group sells flowers to raise funds for community gardens. The produce from those gardens then is donated to local food pantries.

The UAW Local 685 Women’s Committee long has stood as an active community partner promoting events, organizations, and people who are devoted to improving and strengthening the community.
