IUK Art Gallery features sculpture exhibition through mid-November
Voices in Form, an all-sculpture exhibition featuring artworks by members of Chicago Sculpture International, continues now through its closing reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, November 12, in the Gallery.
The exhibit explores the power of sculpture to communicate. Featuring works by members of Chicago Sculpture International, it showcases how artists use form, material, and space to tell stories that resonate beyond words. From intimate reflections to broader societal themes, these sculptures invite viewers to engage with diverse voices and consider the many ways art can inspire dialogue, connection, and understanding.
The exhibition features 31 artworks created by 21 artists from Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan, and includes a digital exhibition catalog and a “Meet the Artists” playlist of videos showing some of the exhibiting artists in their studios or talking about their work.
It was curated as a private juried exhibition, where members of CSI submitted artworks for consideration. Then Gregory Steel, professor of fine arts and new media; Minda Douglas, associate professor of fine arts, and Carrie Baxter, gallery director, selected pieces to include.
The IU Kokomo Art Gallery is in the Library Building, 2300 S. Washington St. It is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and closed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Admission is free. Visitor parking is available in the Main Building parking lot and the Kelley Student Center Parking Lots B and D, and event parking passes are available upon request.
