A moment, a memory, a mystery

Time feels different depending on circumstance; we choose how we move through it

I remember the moment I first grasped the idea that Earth, and all of us on it, are in constant motion through space. The thought that we’re spinning, orbiting, and soaring through the universe was astonishing. But even more mind-bending was learning about space-time, this strange reality where space and time are woven together.

It made me think deeply about what the Word of God says: we know in part, and we prophesy in part. That truth reminds me that there is still so much we don’t understand.

Time itself is a mystery. It doesn’t always feel the same. Sometimes it flies when we’re filled with joy, and other times it drags in sorrow. That’s because time is relative, not just in the scientific sense, but in our personal experience.

I’ve come to think of time not just as something we move through, but as a place. A memory. A moment that we can revisit in our minds with all the clarity of the present. Can you relate? Some memories are so vivid, it feels like we never left.

But not all memories are beautiful. Some of us are carrying wounds, disappointments, and regrets from times long past, places in our story that we should stop revisiting. We may be thousands or even millions of miles away from those experiences, but we still return to them emotionally and mentally.

What will we do with those places?

Each day, we have the power to choose where our mind and heart will go. We can let go of the pain and start embracing what’s good, even if hardship still exists. That choice doesn’t erase the past, but it can free us from its grip. Our next moment, our next decision, can become a new fond place, one filled with hope, healing, and joy.
