The Kokomo Wildkats tried to pull off some late-game heroics, but they were unable to overcome a highly ranked and undefeated squad from Mississinewa on Nov. 3, falling to Ole Miss, 31-24. The Wildkats finished their season 9-3, while 12-0 Mississinewa advances.

The Wildkats tried to reel in a late victory. Trailing 31-14 as they entered the fourth quarter, senior quarterback Reis Beard led the team down the field and scored on a two-yard run.

The Kokomo defense then stood up and held Mississinewa to a three-and-out. With less than five minutes to play, Kokomo scored again on a field goal to close to 31-24, but they never regained possession. Mississinewa successfully ran out the clock with a long drive.

The Wildkats really didn't make it much of a game until the second quarter, spotting their opponents 21 points before finding the scoreboard. Ole Miss opened the scoring at the end of the first quarter, driving 61 yards on 10 plays and ending with a touchdown run.

Mississinewa built its lead in the second quarter, scoring twice on long touchdown passes of 74 and 42 yards, respectively. Kokomo did manage to find the scoreboard before the end of the half, as Beard engineered an 80-yard scoring drive and finished it with a one-yard dive into the end zone. But Mississinewa had an answer with a last-minute field goal to lead, 24-7, at halftime.

The Wildkats attempted to claw back into the game in the third with a 56-yard scoring drive, punctuated by a one-yard scamper from Keemarion Pollard. But a Mississinewa long bomb from midfield restored the deficit at 31-14.

Beard led Kokomo statistically with 167 yards rushing on 22 carries and 82 yards in the air, completing seven of 16 attempts.

Mississinewa's senior quarterback, Nolan Quaderer, torched the Kokomo defense for 264 passing yards and three touchdowns. Wideout Andrew Monday had 132 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions. Running back Ah'lijah Monday rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown.
