Turning Point A System of Care, providing behavioral health and recovery services in the region, announced its intent to join forces with Jane Pauley, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This move will enable both nonprofit organizations to leverage financial and clinical advantages to deliver enhanced recovery and health services to the community.
The alliance offers numerous health service benefits, including enhanced primary care and a broader range of specialized care and access to new resources such as electronic health records. As part of the partnership agreement, Turning Point Chairman of the Board Paul Wyman will join the Jane Pauley corporate board while Jane Pauley corporate leadership will join the Jane Pauley board of directors.
"For more than six years now, Turning Point has been a leader in helping people get into a successful life of recovery,” said Wyman. “It is proven that long-term sustained recovery is strengthened by providing care of the whole person, and together with Jane Pauley we will now be able to offer primary health care to our clients along with our proven recovery support services.
"Jayne Pauley shares our vision of not turning anyone away that seeks recovery services. I could not be more excited about joining forces with another incredible nonprofit that is focused on helping individuals and families regardless of their socio-economic status."
The alliance is expected to focus on delivering top-tier behavioral health and recovery support services to the local community. The integration of administrative, clinical/recovery support, and financial functions should create a stronger foundation for growth, with an ongoing commitment to excellence and compassion.
"From the very beginning I have been incredibly impressed with Turning Point and the successful impact they are having in life saving recovery work,” said Marc Hackett, Jane Pauley Community Health Center CEO. “I shared in a vision that our organizations together could deliver unmatched whole person care.
"We're excited about what this move means for the members in the community. In addition to the strong behavioral health and recovery services Turning Point already provides, patients will now have access to expanded primary care, food pantries, preventative health care, and other support services that JPCHC has been providing in Central Indiana for years."

Symposium donates to library
The Kokomo Howard County Public Library is the recipient of the Symposium Ann Darby McCann Fund to be used for the Howard County Reads Program. Symposium members presented a check for $2,261 on May 20.
In a brief statement from the nonprofit organization, the membership expressed excitement in enabling the library to bring an author to Kokomo this fall as part of the Howard County Reads program.
The Symposium Club of Kokomo is known for its philanthropy, having recently donated to nonprofits in the community, such as the Very Early Childhood Education Center and Turning Point a System of Care.
Each fall, the Kokomo Howard County Public Library solicits nominations from the community for a book that will be the focus of Howard County Reads. People across the library’s service area are encouraged to read the book and participate in related activities developed by the library. The author of the selected work is often invited to visit Kokomo and discuss it with participants.
Guest withdraws from council race
Eli Guest officially announced his decision to withdraw from the 2024 Howard County Council race. The now-former candidate stated that while this marks the end of one chapter, it is “just the beginning of an exciting and impactful political journey.”
"I want to extend my deepest gratitude to my supporters, volunteers, and the community for their unwavering support throughout this campaign," said Guest. "After careful consideration and reflection, I have decided to withdraw from the Howard County Council race.
“This decision was not made lightly, but I believe it is the right step for both my personal growth and my long-term vision for making a difference in our community."
Guest emphasized that this withdrawal is not a retreat from public service but rather a strategic pause to better prepare for future endeavors.
"My commitment to our community remains steadfast, and I am more determined than ever to continue advocating for the issues that matter most to us," said Guest. "This is not the end of my political journey; it is merely the beginning. I will be exploring new opportunities to serve and will remain actively engaged in our community’s development and well-being."
Guest’s campaign focused on key campaign issues, such as improving local infrastructure, enhancing educational opportunities, promoting sustainable development, etc. These issues will remain central to Guest’s future efforts as they continue to seek ways to contribute positively to Howard County.
Guest expressed optimism about the future and a deep sense of responsibility to the community.
"I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together so far, and I look forward to what lies ahead,” said Guest. “Thank you for your continued support and trust."
