The crack of the bat was heard across farm fields and parking lots on June 12 as Bowman Apparel prevailed over Crossfit Kokomo, 19-6, on June 12 for the Howard County Minor League Baseball Championship.
The contest took place at the Northwestern Youth Baseball Field in front of a crowd of devoted family, friends, and supporters as two Russiaville Youth Baseball League rival vied for the title.
Bowman came into the contest with a nearly perfect 11-1 and record. Crossfit's record was also impressive at 11-4-2. More importantly, Bowman's only loss came at the hands of Crossfit Kokomo -- a 14-9 Crossfit win on May 6.
The two teams had played each other twice during the regular season, with Bowman taking the first contest, 14-4, in the first game of the season on April 15.
The championship served as the rubber match between the two, and the kids did not disappoint. The runs came early and often for both teams, but in much larger numbers for the victorious Bowman team.
Bowman had to overcome 1st Source Bank of Northwestern and Fire Pizza of Russiaville to reach the final game, while Crossfit Kokomo downed Cornerstone Brothers of Northwestern, Stephens Machine of Russiaville, and Able's Contracting of Greentown to make the championship game.
