Registration open now for boys' and girls' programs
Kokomo School Corporation announces that registration is open for Fall Youth Basketball Leagues. With increased interest from the community, the corporation expanded the program to offer separate leagues for boys (grades 1-6) and girls (grades 3-8), inviting all area youth to join in the opportunity for young athletes to experience the fundamentals of basketball while having fun in a supportive environment.
“Our youth basketball program offers a quality experience for young athletes, from those just starting out to more experienced players looking to elevate their skills,” said Nick Sale, Kokomo High School Athletic Director. “We’re proud to provide a strong program right here in our community, ensuring that families have access to top-notch coaching and competitive play close to home.”
Players will participate in a practice session each week and engage in one to two games weekly, potentially followed by a tournament in the final week. Gate admission is set at $5 per person or $10 per family, helping to fund the league and its programs while also inviting families and community members to participate in and enjoy the excitement of the games together.
These young athletes will benefit from the guidance of experienced coaches. The boys’ league will be overseen by Kokomo High School Varsity Boys Basketball Coach Drew Schauss, who also serves as the Middle School Athletic Director. The girls’ league will be supervised by Kokomo High School Varsity Girls Basketball Coach Haley Peckinpaugh.
