When God sets the appointment

Faith, when shared, helps others believe

I had a meeting one day concerning mental health that I thought was going to be about one thing, but I quickly realized it was about something else entirely. It’s interesting how we sometimes place importance on certain things. And maybe they are important, but not always in the way we expect. Sometimes they’re just one piece of a much bigger picture God is working out.

About an hour before I was supposed to be at this meeting, I got a phone call from a good friend. They were going through something difficult. There had been a serious incident, and they were left to deal with the trauma. They needed help, a resource, and they called to see if I could assist.

To no credit of my own, thank God I had said yes to that earlier meeting. It ended up being the exact answer to my friend’s need. I thought I was attending for one reason, but that wasn’t the real reason at all.

A day or two later, as I was reflecting on everything, I said something like, “Ah, now I know this meeting that was set earlier was ordained by God. It was because of this.”

I don’t always say that kind of thing out loud, but sometimes I do. In fact, I actually said it to my friend during our phone conversation before inviting her to the meeting. I find myself thinking it often. And at one point, I asked myself why I even say that, why I recognize those moments.

As soon as I asked the question, God answered me. He said, “Because it’s a testament to My goodness. Your faith, when shared, helps others believe. And I am worthy to be praised.”

That stopped me. It wasn’t a “funny ha-ha” moment like something humorous, but I had a chuckle in one of those amazing God moments that leaves you in awe. His timing is always perfect.

So, I’ll keep trusting Him, even when I don’t fully understand. He sees what I don’t. And when I walk with Him, He always shows me the “why,” right on time.
