Effective Mon., Oct. 20, there will be updated procedures at the Tipton County Courthouse.

The east entrance of the courthouse will be the only public entrance. Upon entering, all members of the public and employees who do not possess a county identification card will have to be cleared via a metal detector.

No firearms, knives, or other weapons will be permitted in the courthouse at any time. No pets or animals will be permitted unless identification of a certified service animal is available and provided.

All members of the public entering the courthouse, with or without an appointment, will have to have all belongings scanned via an X-ray belt scanner.

The main employee entrance will remain the south door. The same guidelines apply for employees regarding weapons.

These efforts aim to make the courthouse a safer and more secure place for all residents of Tipton County. For questions, contact Courthouse Security Sergeant Kevin Stiner at 765-675-0792.
