Tumbling Classes
The Carver Community Center, 1030 N. Purdum St., is hosting tumbling classes. These hour-long classes will take place on Mondays and Thursdays at 5, 6, and 7 p.m. and on Sundays at 1 and 2 p.m. Parents are welcome to stay to observe. Winter Coat Distribution
The Salvation Army, 1101 S. Waugh St., will hold its winter coat distribution on Mon., Nov. 3, and Mon., Nov. 14, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and from 1-3:30 p.m. There will be coats, gloves, and hats available, with sizes and supplies dependent upon donations. Hand Up Pantry
The Center Township Trustee’s Office has opened its Hand Up Food Pantry at the township office, 213 E. Jefferson St. The pantry is open every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9-11 a.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m. The goal is to serve those experiencing food insecurity. Participants must make an appointment by calling 765-452-8259. A photo ID or proof of address is required. The pantry is accepting donations to help feed the community during the lapse in SNAP benefits. The township is accepting donations of canned vegetables, fruit, and beans, soup, peanut butter, pasta, pasta sauce, rice, oatmeal, boxed macaroni and cheese, and shelf-stable milk. Drop off your donations at 213 E. Jefferson St., Mon-Thu from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. of Friday from 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
New Baby Bunch
Do you have a new bundle of joy? Or do you feel like you’re in the trenches of parenting? Join the New Baby Bunch for friendship, support, and to share your parenting journey with other caregivers. The group meets each Monday from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road. The next meeting is Mon., Nov. 3. Leaf Pick-Up
The City of Kokomo will begin leaf collection on Mon., Nov. 3. Crews will start on the south side of the city and work north until all leaves are collected or weather no longer permits collection. Each residence should expect two to four collections, depending on how quickly the leaves fall. Rake loose leaves to the curb. Do not place them in the street. Keep piles away from mailboxes, fences, water meter access plates, and other structures that could be damaged during collection. Do not mix leaves with trash, limbs, or other yard waste. Bagged leaves weighing less than 50 pounds may be placed with regular trash for pick-up. Limb collection will be suspended during this collection window. Residents are encouraged to take limbs to the Greencycle Yard Waste Center, 1120 S. Dixon Road at no charge to city and county residents. For additional information, call 765-453-4030.
We Care Trim-a-Tree Festival

In response to the cessation of SNAP benefits, the Howard County Food Access Alliance and many community partners are offering meal sites across Howard County in November. No income restrictions. No ID required. Join your friends and neighbors at any of the meal sites to a free, warm, freshly prepared meal, and take home a bag of groceries to carry you through for a few days. Greentown Historical Society Annual Meeting
The Greentown Historical Society will hold its 2025 Annual Meeting and Dinner on Thu., Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. The event will be held in the Keystone Cooperative Community Building on the Howard County 4H Fairgrounds in Greentown. The guest speaker for the event will be Stephen Hall, a 1963 graduate of Purdue University who worked for NASA. The meal for the event will be catered by Main Occasions Catering of Greentown, and the cost of the meal is $25 per person. The meal will consist of beef and chicken, side dishes, dessert, and a drink. Hoosier Artists: A Gift
The IUK Art Gallery, 2300 S. Washington St., will host an exhibition featuring a collection of works from OneAmerica through Nov. 8. Over the years, OneAmerica grew its art collection, from oil paintings to watercolors. They’ve collaborated with IUK Art Gallery in putting together a show that shows the talent of Indiana. The Gallery is open to the public and offers free admission.
