On October 8, 2025, a report was made to the Kokomo Police Department in reference to an adult male soliciting a juvenile female over the internet. After the initial report was made, it was transferred to the Kokomo Police Department Criminal Investigation Section, Digital Crimes Unit, and Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force for further investigation.

During the investigation, investigators were able to identify the adult male suspect as 20-year-old Cole Farthing of Mayfield, Ky. Since Farthing resided out of state, investigators requested assistance from the Kentucky State Police.
