When an emergency happens, the deciding factor in a successful response will be the preparedness actions you took beforehand. Join CrisisReady Howard County on April 16 as they cover practical, easy-to-implement steps that will equip participants with the knowledge to make their households more resilient to disasters and emergencies, both big and small.
CrisisReady Howard County takes place at 5:30 p.m. in the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s South branch, 1755 E. Center Road. At this interactive event, you’ll learn:
- How to build an emergency supply kit and go-bag
- Why a kit or a go-bag is important
- What supplies should be included
- Where to store them
- How to take shelter or evacuate safely for various scenarios
- The safest way to take shelter for various locations
- How to seal your home during a chemical hazard
- How to be prepared to evacuate quickly
Past attendees say the event makes preparedness feel simple and doable, providing the motivation to turn “I should do this someday” into “I will do this now.”
“It was mentioned that this isn’t rocket science, we’re just putting the info out there to make it in front. That was really a useful way to drive home that none of this is hard, but it does require a bit of planning!”
“First of all, the need to prepare for emergencies. I really hadn’t thought about it until I took your offered classes. Each area you discussed showed the importance of preparing.”
Free preparedness items and resources will be available to participants. Registration is preferred but not required. Use the link or the QR code: https://form.jotform.com/253553759010153.
