Multiple street closures this week

The City of Kokomo announces street closures in downtown and on the west side, starting today, May 26. Repaving operations in downtown already are underway, with paving scheduled to take place overnight, beginning at 11 p.m. Work will continue through Wed., June 3, weather permitting

The working shifts are planned to all be from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., during this time, with plans to reopen roads each morning by 8 a.m. Affected streets are Sycamore Street from Main to Buckeye, Buckeye from Sycamore to Walnut, Walnut from Buckeye to Main, Main from Walnut to the bridge over the Wildcat, Superior from Main to Union, and Union from Superior to the bridge over the Wildcat.

Additionally, Main Street between the bridge over the Wildcat and Superior Street will be closed on Tuesday, May 26, for road base repairs. This closure is expected to last two days, weather permitting.

Sycamore Street and Dixon Road also will have lane restrictions for AT&T to install new communication lines beginning Tuesday, May 26, which are expected to last four days, weather permitting. Northbound Dixon will be restricted to one lane from just south of the intersection with Sycamore through the intersection. Eastbound Sycamore will be restricted to one lane from the intersection with Dixon approximately 600 feet east of the intersection.
