The Kokomo Creek Chubs wrapped up their second consecutive week of hosting a four-game homestand, splitting the series and continuing to build excitement around their inaugural season.
After dropping the first two contests against the Cape Catfish, the Creek Chubs responded in impressive fashion by dominating the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp in back-to-back victories.
Kokomo opened the week with a 14-7 loss on June 11 before falling 7-1 the following evening. However, the team quickly bounced back, defeating Illinois Valley 11-1 on June 13 and following it up with a commanding 13-0 victory on June 14. Both wins ended with the Creek Chubs earning 10-run rule victories, showcasing the offensive firepower and pitching depth the club is capable of producing.
Through 18 games, the Creek Chubs hold an 8-10 overall record and a 6-8 conference mark. The team enters the upcoming week riding a two-game winning streak. Offensively, Kokomo has scored 119 runs while compiling a .241 batting average, a .379 on-base percentage, and a .377 slugging percentage. The club has also launched 14 home runs this season.
While the action on the field has been exciting, the gameday experience continues to be one of the organization’s biggest successes. Fans of all ages have embraced the family-friendly atmosphere at the ballpark.
Sunday’s Superhero Night was a highlight, with Spider-Man, Superman, Batman, and other beloved characters posing for photos and creating lasting memories for children and families.
The Creek Chubs also have made local youth baseball a key part of their season. Teams throughout the area are invited to be recognized during the National Anthem, run onto the field with players during introductions, and participate in special experiences throughout the evening.
As the season progresses, the Creek Chubs continue to create memories both on the diamond and throughout the community.
