The sound of banjos, fiddles, and mandolins will echo across western Howard County once again this August as the Winding Creek Music Festival returns. But there’s something wandering in the woods this year.

That’s right. There has been a Bigfoot sighting!

Make sure to visit the Winding Creek Music Festival, Aug. 13-16, as a fantastic line-up of bands are joined by vendors, music instructors, a Sunday 5K, and that hairy forest recluse and his friends.

Tickets for the Winding Creek Music Festival are on sale now and can be purchased at www.windingcreekmusicfestival.com. A discount is available for buying tickets prior to Aug. 1. See the site for prices on single-day, three-day, and four-day tickets. The Sunday family ticket includes admission for two adults and up to four kids for just $20.

Kokomo Civic Theatre is proud to be one of the first community theaters in Indiana to present the hit Broadway musical, Dear Evan Hansen.

Featuring a Tony Award-winning book by Steven Levenson, and a score by Grammy®, Tony®, Emmy® and Academy Award® winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, Dear Evan Hansen is a new classic, with a message that has resonated with audiences around the world: “You Will Be Found.”

KCT’s production of Dear Evan Hansen will take place Aug. 14-16

Seventeen-year-old Evan Hansen has felt invisible his entire life. But when a tragedy shocks his community and thrusts him into the center of a rapidly evolving controversy, Evan is given the opportunity of a lifetime: the chance to be somebody else. As his web of well-intentioned lies begins to unravel, though, Evan is forced to confront the fact that the price of belonging may be far steeper than he bargained for!

Please Note: Dear Evan Hansen contains adult language and explores key themes of suicide, depression, anxiety, and drug use.

Due to an upgrade to its ticketing software (which should make purchasing tickets at the box office much faster), KCT is running a little behind on filling season ticket orders. Season tickets will be mailed out soon. Once all existing orders have been filled, season tickets will be available online.

Single tickets will be available online on July 15. Tickets are $23 for adults, $20 for seniors aged 60+, $18 for students from middle school through college, and $15 for children ages 12 and under. Visit www.kokomocivictheatre.org for more information and to purchase tickets. Or call 765-454-8800.

South Side Christian offering food

South Side Christian Church will be hosting a “Mini Grocery/Meat Giveaway” Monday, July 13 starting at 11a.m. Approximately 35 bags of grocery staples and meat will be distributed. This is first come, first served while supplies last.

Overdose Awareness Night, August 24

Turning Point System of Care’s annual Overdose Awareness Night of Hope takes place this August. They would be honored to have the community join them for an evening of community, support, and inspiration. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with local resource vendors, enjoy a free meal, and hear powerful stories of recovery and hope.

The Night of Hope takes place Aug. 24, at 6 p.m. in Foster Park, 721 W. Superior St.

Vendor tables are available now and can be reserved by contacting Shannon Querry at shannonq@turningpointsoc.org or by calling 765-438-8730.

Together, we can spread a message of hope, recovery, and support for those affected by substance use and overdose.
