The Kokomo Police Department is proud to have been an accredited law enforcement agency for more than 20 years. Accreditation is achieved by being in compliance with the Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA).

The accreditation program requires law enforcement agencies to comply with the state-of-the-art standard in four basic areas: Policy and Procedure, Administration, Operation Services, and Support Services.

As part of this process, a Public Comment Portal is available all year for anyone in the community to provide comments regarding the agency’s compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the service community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status.

The Kokomo Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the availability of the portal. These comments can be in the form of commendations or concerns. The overall intent of the accreditation process is to provide our agency with information to support continuous improvements as well as foster the pursuit of professional excellence.

The web address to access the comment portal is: https://cimrs2.calea.org/753

CALEA is not an investigatory body. The public portal should not be used to submit information for such purposes. Additionally, there will be no response other than acknowledgement of submissions; however, the information will be considered in context to its relevancy to compliance with standards and the tenets of CALEA Accreditation.
