The United Auto Workers, the UAW Community Action Committee, and the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists will host a Labor Day Roll Call on Mon., Sept. 5, from noon until 4 p.m. The event is entitled, “United We Rise: Stronger Together for Working Families” and will take place at the UAW Local 685 Union Hall, 929 E. Hoffer St.
This collaboration of labor organizations is designed to honor the labor movement and to recognize the positive impact unions have on the community. The event will feature several guest speakers, including UAW International President Shawn Fain, UAW Region 2B Director Dave Green, UAW Local 685 President Denny Butler, UAW Local 685 Vice President Bill Guinan, Stephanie Graf-Gilliland of the Indiana Federation of Democratic Women, and more.
There will be many family activities offered, include a bounce house for the kids, raffles and giveaways, music form DJ Ambrose Freeman, a Kokomo Fire Department truck, and ice cream.
