On May 30, 2026, 16-year-old Nevaeh E. McKinney of Kokomo was reported as a runaway to the Kokomo Police Department. Nevaeh was last seen at her residence in the 4900 block of Kickapoo Drive in the Indian Heights neighborhood. Nevaeh had reportedly left a note prior to leaving stating she would return home shortly but never came back.
Detectives with the KPD Criminal Investigation Section have actively been seeking leads and conducting follow-up investigation in attempt to locate Nevaeh. As of this press release, Nevaeh has yet to be located.
Nevaeh is a white female, approximately 5’ 2” tall, weighing approximately 110 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. Nevaeh might be wearing eyeglasses, and she has a piercing in her right nostril. Nevaeh’s birthday was on September 20, so she is now 17 years old.
Nevaeh has been reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and investigators are partnering with the United States Marshals Service. Investigators continue to ask the public for any information regarding the whereabouts of Nevaeh E. McKinney.

City of Firsts FCU recovers from widespread system outage
City of Firsts Community Federal Credit Union (COFFCU) announced Sept. 21 that access to its banking system and electronic banking services has been restored following a significant system outage that began on Sept. 15.
The outage originated from a major equipment failure at the credit union’s banking system provider’s main data center, Sharetec. The incident affected more than 280 credit unions nationwide using the same banking system and was not isolated to COFFCU.
Sharetec has assured the credit union that the outage was not the result of a data breach, and member information was not compromised because of this incident. The system provider will provide a comprehensive report on the incident, including an explanation of why the redundant cooling system did not activate as expected.
“We understand that this outage has affected our members in very real and personal ways,” said Felicia Cox, CEO of City of Firsts Community Federal Credit Union. “Our members depend on us to have access to their money, to know their payments have been received, and to have confidence that the information they see in their accounts is accurate. We understand how frustrating and unsettling the past several days have been, and we are truly sorry for the inconvenience and uncertainty this situation has caused.
“Our employees have worked extremely hard throughout this outage and continue to work diligently to reconcile accounts and correct discrepancies. While the system failure itself was outside of our control, our commitment to our members is not. We will continue working until the remaining issues are resolved.”
As of 9:33 a.m. on Sept. 21, COFFCU branch staff regained access to the Sharetec banking system, and the credit union is no longer processing transactions offline. Members can now access branch services, their online and mobile banking, the Automated Response Teller (ART), and utilize their ATM/Debit cards.
The credit union is reviewing financial reports and manually correcting discrepancies as it identifies them. As part of COFFCU’s commitment to its members during this disruption, it is waiving transaction fees incurred during the timeframe of the outage from Sept. 12 to Oct. 31, 2026.
COFFCU also expressed its appreciation to members for their patience, understanding, and continued trust throughout the disruption.
“Our members are the reason we are here,” Cox said. “We do not take their trust or their business for granted. We are grateful for their patience and for allowing our team the time needed to complete this recovery process carefully and accurately.”

Northwestern FFA to host Veterans Day breakfast
The Northwestern High School FFA will host a Veterans Day Breakfast on Veterans Day from 7:00–8:30 a.m. at Northwestern High School.
The breakfast is an opportunity for Northwestern FFA members and the community to come together to recognize and thank local veterans for their service and sacrifice.
The breakfast will be offered as a free-will donation, with all donations benefiting the Military Foundation. Meat for the breakfast is being generously donated by Ervin Township Meats, with additional support for the breakfast provided by the Military Foundation.
FFA members will prepare and serve the breakfast, giving students the opportunity to interact with veterans and show their appreciation for those who have served our country.
Veterans and their families are all invited to attend. Parking will be available in the Northwestern Auditorium/Field House parking lot. Breakfast will be served from 7:00–8:30 a.m. at Northwestern High School.
