Connie Jo Townsend

Connie Jo Townsend, 77, of Russiaville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born Mar. 9, 1946, in Kokomo, Indiana to the late Darrell “Guy” Amos and Gretchen “Gwendolyn” Keith.

She was part of the inaugural graduating class at Lewis Cass High School in 1964. She went onto have a successful, decorated, career as the first female member of the executive staff at electronic data systems (EDS) a subsidiary of General Motors (GM) and officially retired from Howard Community Hospital (west campus) in 2006.

She is survived by her loving and caring husband of 59 ½ years, Richard (Rick) Townsend, of Russiaville, Indiana, and Amos (dog) too; her beautiful daughters, Tamara (Clint Eaker) Delaplane, of Lincoln, IN and Jean Ann (Lyle) Snyder, of Russiaville, Indiana; grandchildren, Jacob (Bruna) Schwartz, Brittani (Alston) Andrews, Courtney (Joseph) Harris, Breanna Snyder, Chloe Schwartz, Brooke (Brodee) Lipinski; great-grandchildren, Mykale Andrews, Izzabella Harris, Milan Harris, Kole Johnson, Masyn Andrews, Broghan Harris, Kadynz Johnson, and Kyla Lipinski; sister-in-law (mother), Doris Moss; and several nieces and nephews she loved dearly.

Preceded in death by her parents, Darrell “Guy” and Gretchen “Gwendolyn;” and sisters, Patricia (Gene) Moss and Jerri (Eldon) Hickman.

Connie loved her family, most importantly the love of her life, Rick. She loved to cook. Sunday night family dinners and making Christmas candy were her staples. Connie enjoyed spending time in Florida during the winters, soaking up the sun, with her family and friends while enjoying a “top shelf” margarita. Most of all she enjoyed being a loving, caring, Wife, Mother, and Mamaw. She taught us all the meaning of compassion, and how to care, live, laugh, and love, everyone, unconditionally.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 14th from 3 – 7 p.m. at Galveston First Baptist Church, 207 S. Sycamore St., Galveston, Indiana with funeral services following on Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Sean Cooper officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer’s Research or Galveston First Baptist Church in Connie’s memory. Sally Ann Johnson

Sally Ann Johnson, 80, Kokomo, passed away on November 10, 2023. She was born July 25, 1943, in Cincinnati, OH to the late John and Edna Redman. On December 7, 1974, she married Robert L. Johnson in Huntington, IN, he preceded her in death on August 23, 1995.

Sally graduated from Kokomo High School in 1961. She worked for Dewitt’s Florist, and the Kokomo Tribune. In 1995 she retired from Delco Electronics after 31 years of service. The thing she held most precious in her life was the wonderful relationship she had with her daughter. The long talks they had and the lifelong bond they shared throughout many joyous times, and many struggles as well. The friendships she held with the ones closest to her had a very special place in her heart. She had a passion for all animals, for which she had many types of over the years.

Sally is survived by her daughter, Misty Johnson of Kokomo; Kricket, her grand puppy; special friends, Beverly Cowan of Kokomo, Judy Fahnestock of Kokomo, Randy Sifford of North Carolina, Kerry & Tina Land of Kokomo, Kelly Partlow of Kokomo, and Barbara Lucas of Seymour.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A graveside service will take place at 2:30 pm on Tuesday November 14, 2023, at Albright Cemetery, 3910 Albright Rd, Kokomo. Doris Jean Bentley

Doris Jean Bentley, age 86, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023.

A visitation for Doris will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ellers Mortuary & Crematory Center, 3400 S. Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46902, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.

Charlotte Louise (Roe) Higgins

Charlotte Louise (Roe) Higgins, 84, of Kokomo, passed away at 10:05 pm Saturday November 11, 2023, at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born May 17, 1939, in Kokomo, IN, the daughter of Gerald A. and Nellie M. (Doak) Roe. On September 7, 1958, in Howard County, she married Jack W. Higgins, and he survives.

Charlotte was a 1957 graduate of Kokomo High School. She worked for Public Service Indiana, volunteered for a local hospital gift shop, then returned home to her passion of being a stay-at-home mom. She was a member of Highland Park Church, PEO, and a life-time member of WCTU. Her passions included reading scriptures, knitting, ceramics, China painting, picture painting, and being the best Nena to her grandchildren Cecily and Reese Munro.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Bernie Higgins, Kokomo, IN, Leslie Higgins, Topeka, Kansas, Heather (Kirk) Higgins-Munro, Spearfish, South Dakota; grandchildren, Cecily Munro, Bozeman, Montana, Reese Munro, Spearfish, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald, and Nellie Roe; brothers, Silas Roe, Dwayne Roe, James Roe, Herbie Roe, and Walter Roe; sisters, Bonnie Miller, Marjorie Colvin, Sarah Morris, Helen Adams; daughters, Cathy R. Higgins, Jackie L. Higgins.

The family would like to thank Guardian Angel Hospice and Deborah Zent for their unconditional love and care for Charlotte.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Friday November 17, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, IN 46902, with Pastor Dave Welsh officiating. Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 pm to 7 pm Thursday November 16, 2023, at the funeral home.
