Ingrid J. Williams

Ingrid J. Williams, age 88, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 1:08 PM at Community Howard Regional Hospital. Ingrid was born in Milwaukee, WI on May 20, 1935, to the late Hans and Erna Wiese Johl. She married Gordon Williams on June 29, 1957 in Port Washington, Wisconsin, and he survives.

Ingrid moved from Milwaukee to Port Washington and graduated from Port Washington High School. Following graduation, she attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she graduated with an Art Teacher's degree. It was during her college years, she met her husband, Gordon. Ingrid and Gordon went on to have two children, Paul and Julie. She spent more than half of her life in Kokomo, In. She was also a faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed activities and friendships made over the years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 77 years, Gordon; two children, Paul (Michele) Williams and Julie (John) Huie; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Herbert Johl.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Ingrid on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Christ Lutheran Church, 3401 South Dixon Rd., Kokomo, IN. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM with Pastor Sharon Walker. Memorial contributions may be made in Ingrid's memory to Christ Lutheran Church, envelopes will be provided at the church.

Judith Ann Petty

Judith Ann Petty, 90, of Greentown, Indiana passed away March 9, 2024, at Century Villa Health Care. She was born on December 12, 1933, in Amboy, Indiana, the daughter of Thomas Dale and Ruby Kelsay (Kendall). On November 26, 1960, she married Walter R. Petty who preceded her in death on December 26, 2021.

Judith taught beauty school at Wrights Beauty College and worked from home doing hair. Judy and her husband spent their retirement years in North Port, Florida, where they enjoyed hosting parties and spending time with grandchildren around the pool.

Surviving relatives include her daughter Dianna (Riggle) Wolfinger and husband Todd, of Port Charlotte, FL; granddaughter Amber Brantley and husband Kristopher, of Kokomo, granddaughter Harmony Cook and husband Matt, of Kokomo, grandson Derrick Turner and girlfriend Jessica King, of Port Charlotte, FL; great grandchildren, Brooklyn Brantley, Justin Brantley, Marla Murray, and Kailin Cook.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers Bruce and Fred Kelsay.

Visitation will be 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Friday, March 15, 2024, at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home 2097 West Alto Road Kokomo, Indiana 46902. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM. Marianna (Smith-Small) Lewellyn

Marianna (Smith-Small) Lewellyn formerly of Anderson and Kokomo, passed into the Glory of Heaven on March 8, 2024, in Norton Shores, MI. She was born October 17, 1932, in Hamilton County, to Russel G. and Goldie Irene (Friend) Smith.

The former Marianna Smith grew up in the farmlands of Tipton and Hamilton Counties and attended Goldsmith, Boxley and Kempton Jefferson Township schools in Tipton County. She later graduated from Anderson Vocational School of Practical Nursing in 1979, passing the Indiana State Board of Licensing. She married the late Donald (Pat) L. Small in 1949. After his passing in 1988, she attended Ovid Community Church in Anderson (where she sang in the choir and served as a member and past president of the Mary Martha Circle). After marrying Jerry F. Lewellyn in 2003 and moving to the Kokomo area, she became a member of the West Middleton United Methodist Church.

She was a homemaker most of her life and loved gardening, crossword puzzles, Scrabble, cards, collecting cookbooks, fishing in Canada, bowling, reading, traveling to all 50 states, Mexico, Canada, Australia, Fuji, Samoa, New Zealand and the Caribbean. She also enjoyed the winters in S. Padre Island, TX and Ft. Myers, FL. She had an extensive collection of cardinal collectibles.

She had worked briefly at Little New York Grocery in Tipton County (which her parents owned), Delco Remy Division of GM, Southdale K-Mart and Lifedata in Anderson. She was active in Mother’s Club and served as a Cub Scouts den mother She was the neighborhood taxi service for taking her children and their friends to many school and summer activities.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Dennis Eugene, father Russel G. Smith, mother Goldie I. Friend-Smith-Orr, stepfather Guy Orr, her first husband, Donald L. Small, to whom she was married for 39 years, husband of 13 years Jerry F. Lewellyn, and granddaughter Penny Jo (Small).

She is survived by her daughter Cathy (Robert) Tejchma of Norton Shores, MI, son Daniel Steven (Candy) Small of Markleville, and sister Lois Freeman. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Corey (Keyla) Tejchma of Spring Branch, TX; David (Dennette) Small of Beavercreek, OH and Melissa (Eric) Eitniear of Norton Shores, MI; great-grandchildren Steven (Jaclyn) and Nathan (Trisha) McCormack; Bailey, Emma, Abigail, Solomon and Ruth Eitniear; Daelin Small; Julia and Sophia Tejchma, and great-great granddaughter Callie McCormack. She is also survived by cousin Russell Brashear, several nieces and nephews, and her sister-in-law Nora Small.

On Saturday, March 16, 2024, viewing will take place at Ellers Mortuary, 3400 S. Webster in Kokomo, one hour prior to the 11:00 funeral service, officiated by Rev. Jack Duckworth. Burial will take place at East Union Cemetery.

Betty Lou (McCauley) Vaile

Betty Lou (McCauley) Vaile, of Noblesville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the age of 95. She was born in Kokomo, Indiana, to Clarence and Birdie (Albright) McCauley who preceded her death. Betty will be remembered by her family and friends.

Betty lived a long life. Married to her husband, Ted Vaile, for almost 70 years, a homemaker raising her children, enjoying time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty and husband Ted were active in the Square Dance Community. Betty was an active member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church.

Betty is survived by her children, Charles (Christine) Vaile, Teresa Wood and Bonita Worley, grandchildren, Jennifer Budd, Christine (Magnus) Gannondorf, Heather (Fred) Feleppa, Tara (Victor) Murano-Castrejon, Michael (Tina) Vaile, Eric (Lois) Worley, Lane (Jenny) Wood, Destiney Worley, 16 great grandchildren, nephew Everett (Starla) McCauley and niece Ellen Harvey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ted Vaile, brother Everett McCauley and sister-in-law Helen McCauley.

A visitation for Betty will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Bunker Hill United Methodist Church, 100 E. Broadway, Bunker Hill, IN 46914, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 AM with a meal to follow the service. Burial will be Monday April 15, 2024, 10:00 AM at Albright Cemetery, 3910 Albright Road Kokomo, Indiana, for all who want to attend.

Hobert Lee "Hobie" McCallister

Hobert Lee "Hobie" McCallister, aged 78, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024, in Kokomo, Indiana. Born on September 14, 1945, in Hurricane, West Virginia, Hobie was a man whose zest for life and love for his community left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.

Hobie's early years in West Virginia set the stage for a life filled with adventure and camaraderie. After moving to Kokomo, he quickly became a cherished member of the local community. For 24 years, Hobie dedicated his skills to Moore's Construction as a master sealer, where his hard work and dependability earned him the respect and admiration of both colleagues and clients.

A man of many interests, Hobie was well-known for his athletic prowess. He played football with vigor and passion for the Kokomo Chiefs, exhibiting leadership both on and off the field. His love for the outdoors was unmistakable; fishing trips were a frequent escape where he found serenity and joy in the simplicity of nature. Hobie's laughter and stories would fill the air as he spent cherished moments with his family by the water's edge.

Hobie's competitive spirit shone through in his leisure activities as well. He was a regular on the greens, enjoying rounds of golf with his friends, where friendly banter was as much a part of the game as the swing of the clubs. He also took to the lanes in several bowling leagues, where his cheerful presence and sportsmanship were as striking as his skill with the bowling ball.

Those who knew Hobie would describe him as courageous, adventurous, and spirited. He faced life's challenges head-on and encouraged others to do the same with his unwavering support and infectious optimism. His adventurous spirit was matched by a generous heart, always ready to lend a hand or share a moment of laughter.

Hobie is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Bertha Zirkles. He is survived by his son, Bradley McCallister, who was the pride and joy with whom he shared many of life's greatest lessons and joys. Hobie's legacy of love, strength, and adventure will live on through Bradley, as well as the countless friends and family members whose lives he touched.

Hobie's departure leaves a void in the Kokomo community and in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His story is one of a life well-lived, filled with the pursuit of happiness, the warmth of companionship, and the love of family. As we bid farewell to Hobie McCallister, we celebrate the memories he created, the laughter he sparked, and the courage he inspired.

As the sun sets on Hobie's earthly journey, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide us. We will miss his presence, his voice, and his unwavering spirit. Hobie's life was a journey of joy, resilience, and love—a journey that will continue to be honored by all who knew him.

Janet “Jan” Louise (George) Jacobs

Janet “Jan” Louise (George) Jacobs, 71, of Kokomo, passed away Monday, February 12, 2024, at her home. She was born in Kewannee, IL, on July 17, 1952, the daughter of Joseph and Florence (Aden) George. Jan was married to James “Jim” Jacobs, and he preceded her in death.

Jan was a 1970 graduate of Wethersfield High School. She earned a degree in Special Education from Western Illinois University. She lived in California and most recently worked as a bank teller. When she moved to Kokomo, she developed a tight-knit relationship with her neighbors and her community, and she kept up with her classmates. She appreciated flowers, being outdoors, and gardening. She adored animals of all kinds but especially her pet cats and dogs. She was passionate about baking, cooking, sewing, and crafting. Jan liked to watch movies and watch WWE wrestling.

She is survived by her brother, Joe (Penny) George, Zionsville, IN; nieces, Logan George, Jacksonville, FL, Kelsey (Beau) Hambleton, Avon, IN; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins from Kewannee, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Florence George, and husband, Jim Jacobs.

William “Eric” Hodson

William “Eric” Hodson, 52, Forest, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. He was born May 17, 1971, in Frankfort, the son of William “Bill” Ernest and Mary “Katherine” (Smith) Hodson. On June 15, 2018, he married Cristian Fridley, and she survives.

Eric was a 1990 graduate of Clinton Central High School. He retired from Chrysler after 30 years of service. Eric loved being outside, especially when it came to gardening, bonfires, splitting wood, and mushroom hunting. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

In addition to his wife Cristian, Eric is survived by his children, Tanner (Jenna) Hodson, Tyler (Candace) Hodson, and Layla Newton; mother, Katherine Hodson; grandchildren, Cameron and Tripp Hodson; siblings, Wyndi (Tim) Hall, and Kathy (Brian) Smith; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Eric was preceded in death by his dad, William “Bill” Hodson; nephew, Nathaniel Smith; and great-nephew, Mason Stillwell.

Ronald J McVety

Ronald J McVety, age 65, of Kokomo, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at St. Vincent Kokomo. He was born in Kokomo on June 5, 1958, to the late Robert and Elizabeth (Collins) McVety.

Ronald worked for Target for 29 years. He enjoyed watching movies, taking long walks, and spending time with family, especially his younger cousins. Above all, he loved listening to music. He was an avid collector of albums and was an expert on musicians and music, in general. Ron was known for his beautiful blue eyes.

Ronald is survived by many cousins.

Preceding in death is his parents, and brother, Steven McVety.

There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Gary "Pap" David Arnold

Gary "Pap" David Arnold, 90, of Bloomington, Indiana, "teed off" on March 5, 2024, at 6:01 PM. He was born on March 25, 1933, in Portland, Indiana, the son of Mark and Mary L. Arnold. He married his high school sweetheart in 1953, Judith Louise McCool, who preceded him in death.

Gary went to St. Patrick's Elementary School, graduated Kokomo High School, and attended Indiana University Bloomington. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1990 from State Farm Insurance after 33 years of employment. After retirement he worked as a Ranger at the Indiana University Golf Course. Gary loved family, golf, travel, antiquing, poetry, music, and spending time in his Secret Garden, a true Renaissance Man. His favorite memories included sitting in a street cafe in Paris with Judy and golfing in Scotland at St. Andrew's with his sons, Matt and Andy.
