Ferrold Augustus Shaffer

Ferrold Augustus Shaffer, 49, of Kokomo, passed away at 4:30 am Monday, April 22, 2024, at Brickyard Sycamore Village in Kokomo. He was born in Kokomo, IN on September 25, 1974, to James and Jennifer (Alexander) Shaffer.

Ferrold worked at Bona Vista. He was a member of Cornerstone Christian Church and later In His Image Church. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, participated in the Special Olympics, and loved softball. Ferrold also enjoyed collecting different things throughout his life.

Along with his father, James, he is survived by his siblings, George C. Shaffer, Elizabeth M. Wilson, Lottie J. Shaffer, James L. Shaffer, John L. Shaffer, and Deven M. Abercrombie; as well as several aunts, uncles, nephews, and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jennifer Shaffer.

A Memorial Service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Messages of condolences may be left at www.shirleyandstout.com.



Joyce Fern Sparks

Joyce Fern Sparks, age 92, passed away Monday, April 22, 2024, in Tyler, Texas. She was born March 3, 1932, at home in Jasper County, Illinois. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2024, at Shiloh Cemetery in Kokomo, Indiana. Joyce retired as a Postmaster for the United States Postal Service in 1998. Joyce had a loving passion for genealogy.

She is preceded in death by husband of 57 years, Richard D. Sparks; parents, Benjamin F. and Dean Oral (Wetherholt) Foster; sister Evelyn Marie Colwell; brothers, Alvin Gene Foster and Lloyd Foster.

She is survived by daughter, Judith Ann Walter of Lindale, Texas; daughter, Clarinda Kay and husband, David Spraker of Kokomo, Indiana; sister, Pamela Sue Foster of Wheeler, Illinois; grandchildren, Eric T. Walter and wife, Amanda of Lindale, Texas, Kurt R Walter of Phoenix, Arizona, Jennifer Kay Spraker and husband Nicholas Nowak of Indianapolis, Indiana, Sarah Joyce Hartman and husband, Dylan of Avon, Indiana; niece, Karen Jean Dunne of Oakford, Indiana; along with numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
