Shirley Jean (Imhof) Kriess
Shirley Jean (Imhof) Kriess, 90 years old, of Greentown, went to be with the Lord at 1:19 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Century Villa Healthcare in Greentown. She was born on March 11, 1934, the daughter of the late Urban Imhof and Anna Harrington. She was happily married to William R. “Dick” Kriess for 62 years, and he preceded her in death on March 24, 2016.
Shirley was a graduate of Butler High School. She earned a nursing degree at Thornton Community College. She found joy in serving others as a nurse. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked as a Pediatric Nurse in Blue Island, Illinois, and later for a cardiologist in Merrillville, IN. Her favorite hobbies were knitting, crocheting, bird watching, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Audrey (Steve) Pawlak of Greentown, Robert (Rita) Kriess, South Carolina; grandchildren, Kristine Dowden, Timothy (Bekah) Pawlak, Jason (Sarah) Kriess, Robert (Tasha) Kriess; great-grandchildren, Logan Dowden, Stephen Pawlak, Adley Pawlak, Finn Kriess, Zoe Kriess, Tatum Kriess; several sisters and brothers-in-law. Shirley also leaves behind a very good neighbor, who was very caring to her, Glen Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, several brothers, sisters, and in-laws.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Hasler-Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, IN 46936. A funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. with Honors being provided by the Nursing Honor Guard Serving North Central Indiana on Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Jason Grant officiating. Shirley’s final resting place will be located at Chapel Lawn Memorial Garden in Schererville, IN. Contributions may be made in Shirley’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Willadene (Jarratt) Murphy
Willadene (Jarratt) Murphy born July 2, 1935, died on May 3, 2024, at the age of 88 years old surrounded by her 4 daughters and family. Dene, as she was fondly called was an excellent homemaker and social, loving mother and friend. Her greatest accomplishment she always said was her four daughters and loved them dearly. Her vibrant, open and friendly personality regularly drew friends which many she kept through her life.
Dene was actively engaged throughout her life. She graduated from Eastern High School in 1953 and retired from Delco Electronics. She was always involved in something worthwhile. She was a Christian and served a short humanitarian mission to Africa through Bon Air Church of the Nazarene where she was a member. She was an avid gardener, traveler, seamstress and artist. She volunteered at Art Works where she sold her photography and paintings. She visited Italy, Paris, Petra, Israel, Turkey, Mozambique, Switzerland, Australia, Alaska, Greece, Hawaii, and other locations. She received awards for her photography and had been a member of the Corvette club in Kokomo.
Dene is survived by her four daughters, Cindy Roswog (John), Terri Barker (Donnie), Melody Pfeifer (Don) and Amber Boring (Jeff). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Matthew Roswog, Holly Miller, Nathan Barker, Derek Barker, Craig Barker, Lexie Daily, Cristy Hawkley, Donnie Pfeifer, Barry Donnelly, Brenna Ford, Gabriel Donnelly and their respective spouses. She is additionally survived by her 24 great grandchildren.
Dene was preceded in death by her parents George and Grace Jarratt, siblings Phyllis Baker, Pete Jarratt and infant brother George Jarratt.
Her Viewing will be on Thursday, May 9, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and funeral on May 10 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing one hour prior to the service at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 West Alto Road, Kokomo, Indiana. Peggy Jo Ingle
Peggy Jo Ingle, age 65, of Tipton, was welcomed into Heaven on Thursday, May 2, 2024. She was born on July 7, 1958, to her parents, Oscar J. Ingle and Mary Margaret (Gipson) Ingle.
Peggy graduated with honors from Tipton High School in the class of 1976. She then went on to attend IUPUI. Through the years, Peggy worked at The Diana Theatre, The Arcadia Children’s Home, Woods Wire and retired from Subaru in 2015.
Peggy loved people and left a lasting impression wherever she went. With her happy-go-lucky spirit, Peggy was someone that others truly enjoyed being around. She was incredibly family-oriented and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her loved ones. Her son, Dylan, was her pride and joy along with her two grandchildren, Cameron and Brinley. She and her sisters got together every Saturday night; a time where they played games, bonded deeply, solved all the world’s problems, and strongly encouraged one another. Peggy’s family is so thankful they shared the wonder of watching the Solar Eclipse with her. Peggy thoroughly enjoyed that day with everyone!
Peggy gave her heart to the Lord several years ago and was baptized at Rock Prairie Church. This was an event in Peggy’s life that she often spoke about and was very proud of. One of Peggy’s favorite things to do was play bingo. She cherished the bingo friendships she built through the years. In Peggy’s spare time, she enjoyed the simplicity of life. She loved music, as well as sitting on her front porch bird watching and waving to the neighborhood. It’s safe to say, Peggy was a bright spot in the lives of many. She will be missed greatly for her positive spirit, unconditional love, and selfless heart.
Those left to carry on Peggy’s legacy of love are her son, Dylan (Rachel) Ingle; grandchildren, Cameron Ingle, Brinley Ingle; siblings, Jean (Gary) Rogers, Sandy Thomas, Larry (Beth) Ingle, Nancy (Carl) Carpenter; cousins raised like sisters, Debbie (Joe) Cottingham and Sherry Bush; several nieces, nephews, cousins; along with many bingo friends who Peggy thought of as family.
Peggy was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Oscar & Mary Ingle, and brother-in-law, Kevin Thomas.
A memorial service celebrating Peggy’s life will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home, located at 314 N. Main St. in Tipton, with Pastor Joe Brock officiating. Visitation for family and friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by the service at 2:00 p.m.
