Jayne Faye Reed
Jayne Faye Reed, 61, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away August 7, 2024. She was born on June 24, 1963, in Kokomo, Indiana, the daughter of Ralph Dumoulin and May (Kramer) Zinn. She married her high school sweetheart, Gary Robert Reed, on April 17, 1982, who survives.
Jayne’s love for family, friends, and Jesus was evident to all. She enjoyed gardening, playing games, and spending time boating and swimming at the lake. Regular lunch dates were made with her closest friends, and she loved laughing with them. Her kindness and generosity were adored by all who met her. One of the greatest joys of her life was being a Nana. She adored playing with her grandkids, talking to them on the phone, going to their sporting events and activities, taking them to the movies, and reading to them. Her role as a mother was unmatched by how she offered wisdom, love, and strength to each of her kids. She spent the majority of her beautiful life devoted to loving her best friend and husband of 42 memorable years. They cherished traveling together to fun destinations that usually included the beach.
Jayne’s memory is honored and kept alive by her loving husband, Gary; kids, Patricia (Chauncey) Poe, Cory (Heather) Reed, Alexis (Trevor) Brookshire; and 9 grandkids, Dexter, Titus, Annalise, Tenley, Kollynns, Kade, Brady, Aubree, and Briar; her beloved dog, Miley May; her siblings, Linda (Steve) Farrington, Leslie (Debra) Dumoulin, Patrick (Terri) Dumoulin, and Daniel (Keitha Kunkle) Dumoulin; stepbrother, Pete (Jane) Zinn; plus her many cousins, nieces, and nephews. All of these she loved deeply.
Jayne was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, James Zinn; her father-in-law, Raymond Reed; and a niece, Wendy Mates.
A Memorial Gathering will take place from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Friday, August 16, 2024, at Ellers Mortuary & Cremation Center. Margaret “Granny” McMillan
Margaret “Granny” McMillan, 93, of Kokomo, passed away at 4:25 a.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Waterford Place Legacy in Kokomo. She was born January 25, 1931, in Tunnel Springs, Alabama, to Jeff Richardson and Fannie McCorvey. On November 8, 1951, she married James McMillan, in Moss Point, Mississippi, and he preceded her in death on September 7, 2014.
Margaret attended Monroe County High School in Alabama, and later worked as a nursing assistant for Albion Community Hospital, in Albion, Michigan, for over 20 years. Her favorite pastimes included sewing, crocheting, word puzzles, gardening, traveling and walking. She was a member of Lewis Chapel AME in Albion and Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Kokomo.
Survivors include her children, Dr. Eugene McMillan, Larry McMillan, Brenda McMillan, and Lisa and Dr. Lance Washington; grandchildren, Mica Taylor, Dr. James and Nicola Hawkins II, Lawrence McMillan, Alyshia and Bryan Woods, Jesse McMillan, Mario McMillan, Temia Lane, Christopher McMillan, Michael McMillan, Anissa Washington, and Milan Washington; great-grandchildren, Makiya Williams, Grace Hawkins, Darrell Dean Jr., Victory Hawkins, Branden Woods, Destiny Hawkins, Mekhi Gill, Charity Hawkins, Nora Hawkins, and Kingston Woods; sisters, Bertha Agee and Elizabeth McCants; brother-in-law, Howard Tate; close friends, Alessia and Dennis Harrell, and Margie Brewer; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Mary Kay Mobley, Eugene McCorvey, Gerneedia McCorvey, Dorothy Agee, Clementine Bright, and Nell Crocker.
The family would like to thank the staff of Compassus Hospice and Waterford Place Legacy for the compassionate care they provided to Margaret.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, 1599 E. Sycamore St., Kokomo, with Dr. Lonnie Anderson officiating and Dr. James L. Hawkins II as the eulogist. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Margaret’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory in Kokomo.
