Myrna Lee (Brumett) McNeely
Myrna Lee (Brumett) McNeely, 86, formerly of Kokomo, passed away 9:30 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Audrey’s Adult Care in Tempe, AZ. She was born in Kokomo, IN, on April 27, 1938, the daughter of the late Truman Alva and Vera Cecilia (Ridgley) Brumett. On July 7, 1968, she married Richard “Dick” Arnold McNeely at Southside Christian Church, and he preceded her in death on November 28, 2023.
Myrna was a 1956 graduate of Kokomo High School. She later graduated from Kokomo Business College. She was employed at Delco Electronics, and she attended Southside Christian Church in Kokomo. Myrna and her husband Dick relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, because of his military service in the United States Air Force. She worked for the Small Business Administration in Phoenix until her retirement. She was a 50-year member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and enjoyed attending their events and dances through the years. Myrna was a caring and giving person. Her favorite hobbies were sewing and shopping. She was a very social person and thrived from getting together with friends and family.
Myrna is survived by her stepchildren, Randall McNeely, Sandra Perkins; step-grandson; sister, Barbara Dutchess; nephews, Michael (Kathy) Chenoweth, Gregory Chenoweth; four great-nieces; aunt, Patricia (Leonard) Gunnerson; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, stepson Steven McNeely, and several aunts and uncles.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, IN 46902. Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park. Contributions may be made in Myrna’s memory to New Beginnings Church in Kokomo.
David John Paul
David John Paul, a man known for his funny, creative, and adventurous spirit, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024, in Kokomo, Indiana. Born on September 2, 1955, in Akron, Ohio, to Dale and Trudy Paul, David's life was a rich tapestry of experiences and relationships that touched many.
David's journey began in Ohio, but his zest for life and diverse interests led him to Florida, where he honed his skills in silk screening and trophy making. He brought joy to many through his work, whether it was creating custom designs or commemorating achievements. David's career path was as varied as his interests; he stocked shelves at Lawson's, crafted smiles as a dental lab technician, and even had the unique opportunity to work at Emeril Lagasse's Restaurant in Orlando, where his talents shone.
A man of many passions, David was an avid collector and builder of model cars and trains. His love for astronomy was more than a hobby; it was a window to the universe that inspired him and others. Later in life, David returned to his roots in Kokomo to be closer to his family, a testament to the importance of kinship in his life.
David's personal journey took a significant turn when he redirected his life to Jesus Christ and was baptized on July 25, 2021. This spiritual milestone marked a new chapter of faith and purpose for David, one that he embraced wholeheartedly.
Those who knew David will fondly remember his funny sense of humor. He was the mastermind behind countless pranks, always with a twinkle in his eye, ensuring laughter was never far behind. His playful nature was a gift to his friends and family, a reminder to not take life too seriously.
David leaves behind a legacy of love and memories. He is survived by his dear sisters Linda Whipp, Vickie Squires, Jane Gourley, Nancy Pollard. His brother John Pund, along with numerous nieces and nephews, will also hold David's memory close to their hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Trudy Paul, who no doubt welcomed him with open arms.
Throughout his final days, David was surrounded by compassionate care from the Brickyard Nurses, Guardian Angel Hospice, Ascension nurses and aides, and Dr. Tuchscherer. Their dedication provided comfort and companionship, ensuring that David's journey was filled with dignity and grace.
David John Paul's life story is one of vibrancy, humor, and transformation. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him to pursue their passions, cherish their loved ones, and embrace life's adventures with a hearty laugh. As we bid farewell to David, we celebrate a life well-lived and a soul that brought light to so many. He will be dearly missed, but the memories he created will forever be a beacon of joy for his family and friends.
