Mary Jessie Anderson

Mary Jessie Anderson, 90, Kokomo, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 3:21 a.m. She was born on September 28, 1934, in LaFollette, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Floyd S. and Rena (Sweat) Housley. She was married to Robert M. Snider and Dicky L. Anderson; both have preceded her in death.

Mary retired from Cuneo Press as a press operator and later worked in home health care. She was an avid sports fan who loved cheering for the Cincinnati Reds and the Indianapolis Colts. A talented artist and reader, she also enjoyed playing softball and participating in a bowling league for Cuneo Press. Mary had a deep affection for her pets and cherished spending time with her grandchildren. Her bird Kiwi held a special place in her heart.

Mary is survived by: her loving children Cheryl (Ronnie) Marlow, Kimberly Housley, and Melissa Gibson; grandchildren Charlie (Wendy) Pierce, Sabrina (Eddie) MakMansion, Melinda D. Housley, Travis Housley, Monica Finne, Brittany Anderson, and Courtney Anderson; great-grandchildren Tyler Amos, Haley Amos, Liberty Anderson, Eddie Vega Jr., Frances Anderson, Seeairah Edens, Paxton Pierce, and Cody Marlow; great-great-granddaughter Haylenn Marlow; siblings George Housley, Mary Owens, Sandra Pimberton, Bobby Housley, Eddie Housley, Margaret Peters, and Kenneth Housley; sons-in-law Buddy Gibson Jr., Eddie Vega Sr., and Jeff Carnely; and special friend Jason “Big Dummy” Williams.

Mary was preceded in death by: her parents; first husband Robert M. Snider and her second husband Dicky L. Anderson; son Robert Housley; siblings Peggy Griffin and Jimmy Housley; grandchildren Tommy Pierce, Timmy Pierce, Steven Marlow, Jana Davis, Jenny Gibson, and Danny Gibson; and son-in-law Joey Gunter.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Paul Sutherland officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Shirley & Stout Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.



Robert "Bob" Gordon Sears

Robert "Bob" Gordon Sears, age 82, of Sharpsville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Community Howard Regional Hospital. He was born on October 6, 1942, in Meador, Kentucky, to the late Wilmer and Ocie (Oliver) Sears. Bob married Betty (Rogers) Sears on November 9, 1963, in Kokomo, IN, and she survives.

Bob graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1962. He retired from Delco Electronics in 1993. He was a member of the UAW #292. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Bob loved to spend time with his family. He attended Abundant Life Church.

He is survived by: his loving wife of 61 years Betty; two sons Shawn Sears and Rick Sears; grandson Brayton (Dina) Sears; two sisters Joyce Haalck and Margaret (Walt) Nixon; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death were his parents, brother William D. Sears, and sister Patsy Sears.

The family will plan a Celebration of Life at a later date.



Janet Elaine Frey

Janet Elaine Frey, 77, of Leesburg, Florida, and formerly of Galveston, Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, at UF Leesburg Hospital. She was born April 20, 1947, in Kokomo, to Richard and Elsie (Merrell) Hurley. On December 19, 1970, she married David S. Frey in Galveston, and he survives.

Janet was a graduate of Lewis Cass High School. She worked as an OB technician at St. Joseph Hospital for 29 years and in the office of Dr. Robert J. Kinsey for 10 years before retiring in December of 2006. She was a member of Upper Deer Creek Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her brother James R. Hurley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Amy S. Frey, infant sister Barbara Jean Hurley, and several aunts and uncles.

A celebration of life will be held at Upper Deer Creek Church at a later date. Private burial will take place in North Union Cemetery.
