Laura Anne (Gibson) Agness, Harley A. Dodd, Harold Martin Smith Jr.

Laura Anne (Gibson) Agness

Laura Anne (Gibson) Agness, 68, of Greentown, passed away unexpectedly 3:03 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2025, at her home. She was born in Evergreen Park, IL, on August 30, 1956, the daughter of the late Raymond and Betty (Lefler) Gibson. On April 24, 1976, she married Mark Agness, and he preceded her in death on May 24, 2010.

Laura was a 1974 graduate of Thornridge High School. She was employed by Country Plant and Garden in Greentown. She was later self-employed cleaning homes and aided many families, serving as caregiver to their loved ones in their final days. Laura had a caring, giving, and considerate soul. She always put others before herself and looked for ways to care for and serve other people. Laura and Mark were true partners for 34 years, and their daughter was her pride and joy. Laura held a strong presence in the Greentown community and lived there for her entire adult life. She was a faithful member of Sycamore Friends Church. She enjoyed trips to Florida, was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, and a card shark at Rummy.

She is survived by her daughter Emily Agness, brothers Dirk Gibson and his children Mitchell and Erica, Dean Gibson and son Adam (Chelsea), mother-in-law Charlotte Agness, sisters-in-law Christine (Jim) Irwin, Bev Agness, nieces and nephews Gary (Andrea) Agness, Justin (Courtney) Agness, Nick Agness, Holly Irwin, Brady (Jessica) Irwin, and Ben (Chelsie) Irwin, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Dennis Gibson, nephew Josh Agness, father-in-law Dalton Agness, and brother-in-law Greg Agness.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2025, at Hasler-Stout Funeral, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, IN 46936. A funeral service celebrating Laura’s life will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in Laura’s memory to Sycamore Friends Church. Harley A. Dodd

Harley A. Dodd, 85, of Kokomo, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at his residence. He was born on December 18, 1939, in Harlan, Kentucky, to the late Freeman and Mima (Nelson) Dodd. Harley married Margie (Taylor) Dodd on September 6, 1958, in Kokomo. She passed away on March 2, 2018.

Harley retired from both Continental Steel and Community Howard Regional Hospital. During his early years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to theme parks, and attending bluegrass festivals. In his later years, he became an avid gardener and crocheter. Harley was always a huge Johnny Cash fan. He was known as a big jokester to both his family and friends. Harley loved his wife and family dearly.

Surviving are four daughters Linda M. Dodd, Donna Jane (Larry) Massey, Deloris A. Shelly, and Darlene K. (Greg) Avery, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren, one brother Hershell Dodd, sister-in-law Mary F. Anderson, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death is his loving wife Margie and his parents.

The family will have a time of visitation for Harley on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo, In 46902.



Harold Martin Smith Jr.

Harold Martin Smith Jr., aged 64, of Tipton, IN, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, in Kokomo, IN. Born on October 26, 1960, to Harold Sr. and Juanita Smith, Harold Jr. was a man whose laughter and kindness left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.

Harold's life was one of service and joy. After serving his country with pride in the United States Army National Guard, he embarked on a career that saw him behind the wheel as a truck driver and expertly handling tools in the HVAC industry. His ability to fix anything made him the go-to handyman in his community.

In his younger years, Harold found joy and purpose in children's ministry. His talent for bringing stories to life through puppets and skits was a testament to his playful spirit and his desire to make a positive impact on the lives of young people. Harold's creativity and humor were gifts that he generously shared.

Harold loved southern gospel and country, and as a young man he enjoyed playing the church drums. At home, his faithful dog Noah was a constant companion, and their bond was a source of great comfort and happiness.

His ability to joke and bring lightness to any situation was one of his greatest traits. Friends and family will remember him as a man who could always be counted on for a laugh and a helping hand.

Harold is survived by his wife Peggy Smith, and his daughters Amy Cooper (Bradley) and Jessica Mooyman (Stephen), grandchildren Chloe, Isabella, Emma, Preston, Jacob, and Pierce, sister Estella Rivers (Kerry), along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold Sr. and Juanita Smith and his siblings Jim, May, Mary, and Jane.
