Paul Shuren

Paul Shuren, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, in Wabash, Indiana, at the age of 78. Born on June 19, 1946, in Albany, New York, to the late Ernest and Evelyn Shuren, Paul's life was a testament to the power of optimism, generosity, and love.

Paul dedicated more than 30 years to his craft as a skilled carpenter, a vocation that not only showcased his talent but also his commitment to hard work and precision. His hands were not only tools of trade but also instruments of creativity and care. His service to his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 was a source of great pride for Paul and instilled in him a sense of discipline and honor that he carried throughout his life.

In September 1975, Paul married the love of his life Cynthia Shuren, and together they embarked on a journey that would bring them joy, challenges, and an ever-growing family. Their love was a beacon that lit the lives of their daughters Bethann and Kimberly Shuren and their stepchildren, Cynthiaivette and Orlando Shuren. Paul was a brother to Mark, Andrew, Thomas, and John Shuren, each of whom shared in the light of his kindness and warmth.

Paul's love for antiques was not just a pastime but a passion that he shared with his community through his booth in Wabash. His appreciation for the craftsmanship of bygone eras was evident in each piece he collected and sold. His younger years were spent in the great outdoors of Colorado, where he pursued the thrill of deer hunting with a profound respect for nature.

Back at home, Paul's love for the natural world continued to flourish through his enjoyment of bird watching. His backyard was a sanctuary for the many birds he admired, and he took great pleasure in observing their habits and beauty. This love extended beyond the local fauna, as he became a breeder of love birds in Puerto Rico, combining his nurturing spirit with his fascination for the avian world.

Those fortunate enough to have known Paul will remember a man whose life was defined by loving acts and a generous heart. He was a beacon of optimism, always ready with a kind word and a smile, even in the face of adversity. His presence was a comfort and his laughter a joy that will be deeply missed.

Paul's life was one of connection; to his family, his friends, the environment, and to the many lives he touched through his work and hobbies. He leaves behind not only his beloved wife Cynthia, his daughters Bethann and Kimberly, his stepchildren Cynthiaivette and Orlando, and his brothers Mark, Andrew, Thomas, and John, but also his treasured puppies Max and Cuca, who brought him immeasurable happiness.

As we say goodbye to Paul Shuren, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy of love that will continue to inspire all who knew him. His passing is not just a loss but a reminder to cherish the time we have and to live with the same compassion and enthusiasm that he embodied every day. Paul's journey through life was a remarkable one, and his story will be told with fondness and admiration for generations to come.
