David Gene West
David Gene West, 63, of Ventura, California, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025. He was born on March 5, 1962, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, the son of Gene and Joyce (Anderson) West of Kokomo, Indiana, formerly from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
David accepted the Lord at Bethany Baptist Church, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and followed the Lord in baptism on March 29, 1970. He went on several mission trips while in the Bible Baptist Church Youth Group. The most notable one was to an Indian tribe in New Mexico.
David attended Kokomo Christian School in Kokomo, Indiana. He graduated from Haworth High School in 1980 and attended Purdue University for two years. He was active in sports: KCS basketball, YMCA youth football, and later on the Haworth football team. He also played hockey on a team in Indianapolis. While in California, he loved to root for the L.A. Dodgers and had several trips to games in the L.A. stadium.
In Kokomo, David briefly worked at REM, a residential home for the disadvantaged. He cared for them and even took some of them to church. In Ventura, an organization called Turning Point, which helped the disadvantaged, played a very special part in helping David through some difficult days in his life. David was employed for several years at New Visions in Ventura where he assisted in helping the mentally disabled. He also volunteered at various food banks. He was a very compassionate person in his dealings with people. They all loved him.
David loved his family and never missed sending cards to them, including a little cash or a gift card. He boxed up and sent coffee for his mom and tea for his dad. During his last few years, when his parents were no longer able to travel to Ventura, he then traveled to Kokomo twice a year. When in Ventura, David loved to “Zoom” with his parents and be kept up to date. Each call ended with a Today in the Word devotional.
Throughout his 12 years in Ventura, his mentor and then best friend, Tom Angula, became very special to him. Through the years he enjoyed his relationship with Tom’s family, wife “Cookie” and their two girls (Catalina and Macy). The girls referred to David affectionately as “Uncle David.”
David is survived by his parents, two brothers Mark (Susan) of Punta Gorda, Florida, and Stephen (Rebecca) of Bethel, Ohio, sister Julie (Thomas) Lombard of Parker, Colorado, nephews Anderson West and Kevin West, nieces Christina (Mathew) Walter, Olivia Lombard, Gianna Lombard, Nora Lombard, and Audrey West.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents (Wests and Andersons), uncles, and cousins.

Lisa Anne Pore
Lisa Anne Pore, 59, of Windfall, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 11, 1965, in Charleston, South Carolina, to her parents Edward & Barbara (Dailey) Lyke. Lisa married the love of her life James "Jimmy" Pore on November 23, 1991, sharing 33 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories.
Lisa graduated from Tri-Central High School in the class of 1984. If you knew Lisa, then you had the privilege of knowing one of the kindest hearts in this world. Going into Lisa’s Tanning was always a privilege. Lisa not only provided excellent service and care for her customers she also provided friendship and love. Lisa’s customers left her shop not only feeling better about their appearance but better about life in general. She took the time to make everyone who walked through her door feel valued. She not only knew your name she knew your kids’ names. She knew what was going on in your life. She often remembered details mentioned in passing that most other people would have instantly forgotten. Not Lisa! Why? She genuinely cared about others. Lisa impacted and encouraged many people with her no-nonsense approach to life. She was upbeat, fun, and always positive. After a conversation with Lisa, you just unexplainably felt better. The beauty in this is the fact that she didn’t even realize what a gift she was to so many … she was just simply being herself.
Lisa loved her family with her whole heart. She beamed with pride whenever she spoke of them. Lisa tried to never take her life for granted. She knew she had been blessed beyond measure. Whenever she talked about her parents she would laugh and say she didn't know how she had gotten so lucky. Her thankful and fun-loving spirit always led the way!
There was a lot of fun to be had in the Pore household. Lisa was a devoted Boston Red Sox fan, and her husband and daughter were over-the-top Yankees fans. There was never a shortage of healthy banter! Christmastime was always very special. Lisa loved to decorate and had a knack for making the house feel warm and cozy. She loved setting up her Christmas village which grew a little every year. Lisa probably enjoyed Christmas so much because of her giving spirit. If she ever heard someone was in need, she was the first to step in to help.
Her daughter lovingly referred to her as Batman. This was, of course, because she had the superpower of fixing almost anything that was wrong. On the rare occasion when she couldn’t, the two still loved being Batman and Robin and embracing the beautiful bond they shared. Lisa had an unbreakable bond with her husband as well. She was still quite smitten after all their years together, and she was incredibly grateful for his loving commitment to her. He truly honored her and their vows by taking incredible care of her during her illness. Life will definitely not be the same without Lisa, but she has left an amazing example of what love in action looks like.
Those left to carry on Lisa’s legacy of love are her husband Jimmy Pore, mother Barbara Lyke, daughter Megan Pore, stepdaughter Kasie (Ian) Wolfgang, bonus daughter Emily Kesterson, step-grandchildren Hayley McMannis and Nevaeh McMannis, step-great-grandchild Winter, sisters-in-law Lisa (Brian) Bear and Teresa (Mike) Gaiser, brother-in-law Mike (Sandy) Pore, nephew Blaine (Paige) Gaiser, several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and fur baby Sheba Eleanor Pore.
Lisa was welcomed into Heaven by her dad Edward Lyke, grandparents Paul & Lorene Dailey and Rev. Dorcie & Alma Lyke, in-laws James & Charlotte Pore, and fur babies Boston, Bristol, and Amber.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home, located at 314 N. Main Street in Tipton.
