John “Johnny” Taylor Gillem, Gary Dean Jones

John “Johnny” Taylor Gillem

John “Johnny” Taylor Gillem, 85, Kokomo, passed away at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Community Howard Regional Health, Kokomo. He was born on March 23, 1940, to the late John and Nellie (Durham) Gillem. On July 1, 1961, in Kokomo, he married Marianne Bassett, and she survives.

Johnny graduated from Kokomo High School in 1959 and attended Ball State University. He worked for Leggett & Platt as a Sales Representative for 32 years before retiring. He enjoyed watching football and basketball and playing golf. He was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts, Pacers, and Fever. Johnny’s greatest love, however, was his family.

Along with his wife Marianne, Johnny is survived by his daughter Lori (Dale) Homenick, sons John (Melissa) Gillem and Michael (Cara) Gillem, grandchildren Taylor, Shelby, Jenna, Parker, Hailey, John, Grant, Charlotte, and Claudia, great-grandchild Trigg, siblings Elizabeth Fulk, Barbara Langley, Carolyn Boothby, Donna Stevenson, and Russell Gillem.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Ronnie Gillem, Billy Gillem, Marylou Dunlap, Imogene Sanders, and Judy Hayes.

A funeral service celebrating Johnny’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Gary Dean Jones

Gary Dean Jones, 65, of Tipton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. He was born in Tipton on March 14, 1960, to his parents Guy Jones and Deloris (Shupperd) Jones.

Gary loved to have bonfires with friends, go fishing out on a canoe, or watch football. He was a man with a compassionate heart for all of those around him, often thinking of others before himself.

Gary is survived by his children Michael (Adrienne) Jones and Kylie (Ryan) Lehto, as well as three grandchildren and one on the way. Gary is also survived by nieces Laine Allen, Breanna Cress, and their families.

Gary was welcomed into Heaven by his parents Guy and Deloris Jones and sister Cathy Hunter.

Out of respect for Gary’s wishes, there will be no formal services held. Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Jones family in their time of need.
