Larry Eugene Bougher

Larry Eugene Bougher, 64, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away at his home on June 22, 2025. Born on February 2, 1961, in Kokomo, Larry was a proud 1979 graduate of Western High School. Shortly after, he chose to join the United States Coast Guard, where he served his country with courage and commitment. A natural handyman, he was always ready to lend a hand—no job too big, small, or complicated. After a long career at Kokomo Rental, he later retired as a respected shop foreman at J & J Trucking.

Larry was one of a kind—someone who made life a little brighter, more fun, and much more joyful for everyone around him. Whether you knew him for a moment or a lifetime, you likely remember his quick wit, his booming laugh, and that unmistakable twinkle in his eye when he was about to crack a joke. He had a way of lightening the mood and reminding everyone to enjoy the moment. There was never a dull time when Larry was around.

He had a deep love for classic rock—especially KISS—and wasn’t shy about sharing his opinions on what real music sounded like. He also had a lifelong passion for dirt sprint car racing, especially at the Kokomo Speedway, where he spent many weekends cheering from the stands, wrenching on cars, swapping stories, and soaking in the roar of the engines. And when it came to NASCAR, no one could top his admiration for Dale Earnhardt—Larry wore that iconic No. 3 with pride and never missed a race.

Larry also had a sweet side—literally and figuratively. He never turned down a chocolate chip cookie, and he looked forward every year to his sister’s homemade Christmas cookies, which he insisted were the best on earth. When something needed fixing, Larry was the one people called. He was everyone’s favorite handyman—talented, dependable, and always happy to help.

Though Larry may no longer be with us in person, his stories, laughter, and love will live on in all of us. His legacy is not only in the things he fixed or the races he watched, but in the countless lives he touched just by being himself.

He wasn’t just a son, brother, uncle, cousin, or friend—he was the heart of every gathering, the guy who made you feel welcome, and the one who could make you laugh until you cried. His presence was comforting, his stories legendary, and his heart incredibly generous.

Larry is survived by sister Connie Jo Hines, sister Marilyn (John) Barnes, sister-in-law Joan Bougher, aunts, uncles, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Dale Bougher, mother Violet Bougher, brother Lowell Bougher, sister Beverly Slane, and brother-in-law Steve Hines.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Larry’s life from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, IN 46902. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be left at www.shirleyandstout.com.

Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Jarrett Fields

Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Jarrett Fields, 97, formerly of Kokomo, passed away June 23, 2025, in Greencastle, IN, where she resided with her husband Dr. Donald L. Fields, who was by her side at the time of passing.

Betty embodied kindness and compassion throughout her life. She cared little about her own needs and found her life’s purpose in giving of herself: her time, her empathy, and her understanding. Born the daughter of a minister, she embraced the teachings of Jesus in her life rather than imposing those teachings on others. She advocated love, mercy, and forgiveness and allowed those fundamentals to guide her life choices. Betty dedicated much of her life to the service of others. For half a century, she delivered Meals on Wheels to those who needed fed. An educator herself, she worked tirelessly with P.E.O. (Philanthropic Education Organization Sisterhood), Chapter C-CY, holding offices as Chaplin, Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Vice President, and President and was recognized by the organization for her 50 years of service. Betty was a long-time member of the United Methodist Women and active in the Medical Auxiliary, the Church League, and Children’s Council. She regularly participated in nursing home visits, in voter registration efforts, and blood drives. Betty served on a mission trip to Haiti in the 1990s.

Her love of the Arts was evident in her support for the Kokomo Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, Indiana University Opera, and she volunteered at the Havens Auditorium box office. Betty and her husband traveled extensively both domestically and abroad, and she instilled a love of the national park system in her children.

Betty was born on February 5, 1928, in Indianapolis to Reverend Lee S. and Evelyn Coleman Jarrett. During her early years, the family moved often as Reverend Jarrett was assigned to Methodist churches in Carthage, College Corner, Milan, Rockport, Brookville, and finally Martinsville, where Betty graduated from high school. She attended Indiana University in Bloomington and received a B.A. in Elementary Education in 1950. She taught elementary school in Indianapolis, where she met her future husband Donald on a blind date. Six months later, she and Donald were married on August 23, 1952, in Rushville, IN, at the St. Paul Methodist Church with Rev. Lee S. Jarrett officiating.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Jarrett, and two grandsons Samuel Parker Fields and Jason Hinkle (Ling). Betty is survived by her four children Richard Fields (Myrna) of Spencer, IN, their children Riley and Ethan (Randee), and their children Parker and Daisy, and Susan Braswell (Chris) and their daughters Clara and Jillian, Ann von Pentz (Bob) of Scottsdale, AZ, and their children Annalora and Nicholas, Barbara Fields Timm (Steve) of Reelsville, IN, and their children Audrey (Raymond) and Calvin (Kaitlyn), and D. Scott Fields (Melanie) of Nashville, Tennessee, and their daughter Mallory.

A memorial service celebrating Betty’s life will held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Grace United Methodist Church, 219 W. Mulberry St., Kokomo, with Pastor Matt Swisher officiating. Inurnment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 a.m. until service time at the church on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Hospital for Children, https://www.rileychildrens.org/about/ways-to-give. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with Betty’s arrangements.

Pamela Lynn (Vint) Prifogle

Pamela Lynn (Vint) Prifogle passed away on Wednesday June 25, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. She was born on April 19, 1956, in the town of Kokomo. She lived in Kokomo with her loving husband Steve for 31 years. She passed away at home, as peacefully as possible, surrounded by her family.

Pamela retired from Haynes International in 2016 after working for 36 years for the company. She worked hard her entire life, and she enjoyed games and fun with family and friends whenever possible. She and her husband Steve enjoyed traveling with friends and family, traveling to multiple countries and locations whenever they could. They enjoyed going to tropical locations, visiting remote areas, and seeing the sights around the world.

Pam was known for her strength, generosity, and love of life. When Pam received her stage 4 cancer diagnosis in 2023, her strength was evident when she never complained, never asked “Why me?” and actually consoled those around her while dealing with this family catastrophe. Her generosity was well known to those who knew her best. She helped neighbors, donated to charities, and privately did what she could to help others whenever she could, not asking for recognition or even thanks. In fact, in lieu of flowers or other gifts, she asked that individuals donate to Urban Outreach which helps local families in the community. She wouldn’t like it, but please make a donation in her name to share the love and care she had for others one more time even after she has passed. If you cannot make a donation in her name, please perform an act of kindness in your community to honor the love she shared for those around her.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Delores Vint.

Pam is survived by her husband Steve Prifogle, daughter Megan (Chris) Refner of Auburn, three grandsons Atticus, Silas, and Titus Refner of Auburn, stepson Todd Prifogle of Kokomo, siblings Cheryl (Dave) Duncan of Kokomo, Elaine Maddox of Columbus, and Kenneth Vint of Florida, and several nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She was extremely proud of her three grandchildren: a current service member, a college freshman, and a future veterinarian.

The entire family wants to thank and honor her surviving husband Steve who for the last two years has dedicated himself to caring for his great love. Up to the very end, he refused to leave her side, putting his own care after hers.

Pam wished to be cremated without any ceremony or fuss, so there will be no viewing or funeral service. She told her family she would be “okay” with a party in her honor once the pain of her passing has subsided. Pam will be greatly missed, forever loved, and always immortalized in her family for the caring and kindness that will reverberate for generations to come in her lineage. We miss and love you, mom, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend.

Stout & Son Funeral Home in Russiaville has been entrusted with cremation.
