Sara Dawn Lewis
Sara Dawn Lewis, 33 years old, of Kokomo, with heavy hearts we announce her passing who left us far too soon on June 28, 2025. Her life ended tragically due to a heartbreaking struggle that does not define the bright, loving, and vibrant soul within. Sara brought laughter, energy, and light wherever she went. She had a contagious smile, a fierce love for her family, and a heart that never stopped giving – even when her own burdens grew heavy. She faced more than her fair share of pain, but she also gave more than her share of love.
Sara leaves behind her beloved children Alexia (9) and Gavin (4) who were her pride, joy, and greatest source of strength. She also leaves her grieving parents Sheila and Dave Phelps, sisters and brothers Jamie Sullivan, James Sullivan, Olivia Peter, Paul Bullins, and Lacie Sullivan, nieces and nephews Lyla, Owen, and Asher, her boyfriend Rob Dockerty, and former husband and his fiancée Andrew Glassburn and Cassidy Yocom.
Though her time with us was cut short, her impact remains. She was a fighter, a nurturer, and someone who never stopped trying. We will remember her not just for her struggles, but for her spirit – wild, beautiful, imperfect, and deeply loved.
Services for Sara are pending. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the family in honor of Sara, C/O purchasing school supplies for Sara’s children. Hasler-Stout Funeral Home in Greentown has been entrusted with cremation.

Yvonne Marie Sutherland
Yvonne Marie Sutherland, a beacon of love and faith, departed from this world on June 26, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of music, devotion, and selfless love. Born on August 25, 1943, in Lima, Ohio, Yvonne's journey began as the cherished daughter of Ermagene (Ramsey-Owens) Stamper and Wilton Owens. Her life was a melody of kindness that resonated with all who knew her, and she passed away in Kokomo, Indiana, surrounded by the harmonious memories she created.
Yvonne's life was a testament to the power of passion and purpose upon graduating from Garden City High School. As a receptionist at a car dealership, she greeted every person with a smile that could brighten the gloomiest of days. Her true calling, however, was music. Yvonne's fingers danced on piano keys like a maestro, creating ripples of joy that touched the hearts of many. Her talent was not confined to the local church where she regularly played, but it also found its way onto albums with the renowned Blackwood Brothers, showcasing her divine gift to a broader audience.
Her love for music was only paralleled by her love for her family and her faith. Yvonne was a pillar of strength and a source of unwavering support to her beloved brother Alan Owens and his wife Rhonda, her stepdaughter Christie Heerschop, and her nieces Jacqueline Reed, Shannon Owens (Lori), and Shay Allen (Michael). Her great-nieces and nephews also basked in the warmth of her affection. Yvonne's presence was a guiding light, and although she has moved on to a celestial choir, her spirit remains a comforting embrace to her loved ones.
Her husband Roger Sutherland, of almost 31 years, passed away February 5, 2019. They are now reunited in the Heavens.
Yvonne's life was a symphony of service. Her involvement in the church was not just as a musician but as a devoted member who found joy in fellowship and in giving back. She was the embodiment of a loving sister, a caring aunt, and a faithful servant of God. Her life revolved around her church, where she found her calling and her community.
The dogs that Yvonne loved over the years were a reflection of her nurturing soul. They were not just pets but companions that experienced the boundless love she had to offer. Her role as a big sister was performed with grace and dedication, always putting others before herself. Yvonne's selflessness was her signature, a trait that made her unforgettable.
Yvonne Marie Sutherland lived a life that exemplified the virtues of being loving, faith-filled, and selfless. She inspired those around her to strive for a life of purpose and joy. Her story encourages us to find our passion, to nurture our relationships, and to serve with a heart full of love. As we remember Yvonne, let us celebrate the melody of her life and the harmony she brought to ours. Her legacy is a reminder that every day is a chance to create beautiful music with our actions and our words. Let us carry the tune of her spirit forward, for in our hearts and memories, Yvonne's song plays on, eternal and uplifting.
