Gloria Rae (West) Canady, Phyllis Joan (Spicer) Davidson, Angela “Angel” Kay Burnette

Gloria Rae (West) Canady

Gloria Rae (West) Canady, 89, of Kokomo, Indiana, went to be with her Lord on September 18, 2025. She was born in Evarts, Kentucky, on August 10, 1936. She married Charles Morris Canady in Pennington Gap, Virginia, on November 27, 1954. They were married 61 years.

Gloria was a graduate of Evarts High School and Indiana University Kokomo. She received her master’s degree in 1975. Gloria taught 2nd grade at Bunker Hill Elementary and Maconaquah Elementary for 19 years. She really enjoyed her career as a teacher. Gloria loved all her students and their families. She expressed she never had a day she dreaded going to her classroom.

Gloria was a Cub Scout leader for several years. She taught Sunday school for many years and was junior church director. She was a member of Charity Baptist Church in Zephyrhills, Florida, and Crossroads Community Church in Kokomo, Indiana. She loved both her church families very much.

Gloria loved to sew, as well as crochet and knit for Christmas boxes at the Kokomo Rescue Mission. She volunteered at the Kokomo Rescue Mission cleaning toys for Christmas boxes. Gloria and her husband Charlie did lots of woodworking projects for relatives and families.

Gloria is survived by her son Charles “Chuck” (Marsha) Canady Jr.; daughter Sandra (Mark) Goff; two grandchildren Adam & Emily Goff; two step-grandchildren Wade & Ryan Adams; and many other members of her family whom she loved very much.

Along with her husband of 61 years Charles, Gloria is preceded in death by her parents Ray & Roxie (Kelly) West; one son Danny Ray Canady; one sister Ann Lou Fox; and one grandson Daniel Ray Canady.

A funeral service celebrating Gloria’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, with Pastors Dennis Hart and Luke Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the funeral home. Phyllis Joan (Spicer) Davidson

Phyllis Joan (Spicer) Davidson went to be with Jesus, surrounded by her loving family, Thursday, September 18, 2025. Born November 5, 1929, in Kokomo, Indiana, to Adrian and Edna Mae (Tibbets) Spicer, she married Anderson Clifford “Cliff” Davidson who preceded her in death.

She was a graduate of Kokomo High School. She worked many places but retired after 30 years from GM/Delco. Joan was a devout Christian and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ on Courtland Avenue in Kokomo, Indiana. Joan greatly enjoyed reading her Bible and studying the word of God. It seems she never met a stranger and enjoyed having conversations with anyone. She was a prayer warrior, and we all greatly benefited from her constant prayer.

She is survived by sons Anderson Clifford (Shirley) Davidson Jr. of Greenwood, IN, John Robert (Kathy) Davidson of Kokomo, IN, and George Lamar Davidson of Kokomo, IN; also, two granddaughters Heather (Mark) Fryman of Cicero, IN, and Hillary (Jake) Premis of Chico, CA. Grandma Davidson also was blessed by six great grandchildren Silas Fryman, Arlo Fryman, and Harvey Fryman of Cicero, IN, and Caleb Premis, Carter Premis, and Raeya Premis of Chico, CA.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents and husband, as well as sisters Reathel Spicer and Annabelle Keith, and brothers John Spicer and Richard Spicer.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Kevin Kay from the Church of Christ will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Christ on Courtland Avenue in Kokomo. Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory have been entrusted with services.

Angela “Angel” Kay Burnette

Angela “Angel” Kay Burnette, 62, of Kokomo, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, at her residence. She was born on June 30, 1963, in Wabash to the late Robert Ennis and Sandra Sue (Hopkins) Mitchell.

Angel worked as a bartender most of her life. She was a bartender at VFW Post #1152 until she became sick with cancer. Angel enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved shopping and finding good deals. She also enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was camping, being by the water, or doing yard work. Angel loved celebrating the holidays. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog Bruiser.

Angel is survived by her children Steven McKinney, Shandia (Shane Carrigan) Thompson, Ryan Stabler, and Summer Brahm; grandchildren Keshawn Stabler, Asia Stabler, Kali (Isaiah Fisher) Smith, Tyler Carrigan, and Jordan McKinney; great-grandchildren Willow Stabler, Xaila Fisher, and Xalaya Fisher; siblings Lori (Darrell) Gillem and Todd Helton; one uncle; one aunt; and many loving cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents; aunts; and nephew Lonnie Ennis.

Angel’s family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
