Linda West
September 6, 1951 - September 25, 2025
Linda was the cherished daughter of the late Bill and Mary Dawson, and she carried on the legacy of her parents with grace and devotion. Her life was marked by the love and pride she had for her family.
She is survived by her adoring daughters Stacey (Michael) Lephart-Lykins, Tammy (Bob) Hempstead, and Carrie (Josh) Gay. She also assisted in raising her son’s children James and Kaylee Shallcross alongside their mother after his passing. Linda’s memory will also be treasured by her several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the light of her life. Though she experienced the profound loss of her son Jim Shallcross, and her siblings Marjorie (Jimmy) Bailey and Bill Dawson Jr., Linda’s capacity to give and receive love never waned.
Beyond her family, Linda’s warmth extended into the community through her dedicated work as a secretary for the Boys and Girls Club. However, she often said that her most significant and rewarding role was being a “mom” to everyone she met. Her nurturing presence was felt far and wide, and it created an extended family that included individuals from all walks of life, including her close friend Rick Fines.
Linda’s interests reflected the richness and diversity of her character. A voracious reader, she found solace and adventure in the pages of books, and her love for pogo games on the computer showcased her playful and competitive spirit. Despite her varied interests, nothing brought Linda more joy than her family, who remained her biggest pride and primary focus throughout her life.
Those who knew Linda will fondly remember her for her exceptional qualities. Her sense of humor was infectious, and she had a natural ability to lift the spirits of those around her. Linda was the embodiment of love, always putting others before herself and nurturing those in need with an open heart. Her spirit was indomitable, and she faced life’s challenges with a smile and unyielding positivity.
As we say goodbye to Linda J. West, we celebrate a life lived with laughter, love, and an unwavering spirit. Her legacy will continue to inspire and influence every life she touched. Linda’s memory will be held dear, not only through the stories shared among those who loved her but also through the countless acts of kindness she spread throughout her community. Her departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
