David Louis Arnett
David Louis Arnett, 84, Burlington, passed away at 6:06 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2026, at his home. He was born January 13, 1942, in Kokomo to David Ross and Wanita Isabelle (Hale) Arnett. He married Darla (Deanie) Wallace on January 27, 1962. She survives.
David worked for Delco Electronics retiring after 30 years of service. He earned his associates degree from Ivy Tech where he taught construction and woodworking. David was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife Deanie Arnett; children Scott (Tamie) Arnett and Debbie (Mike) Pannell; grandchildren Kristen (Cody) Miller, Craig (Hannah) Arnett, Kyle (Amanda) Arnett, and David Pannell; and great-grandchildren Nora, Wyatt, Oliver, Levi, Aiden, Waylon, Michael, and Weston.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Janice Kay Ryan and Connie Sue Hoover.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home, 1315 West Lincoln Road. Services will begin at noon, featuring a Masonic service followed by a funeral officiated by Pastor Terry Russell. Burial will take place afterward at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Sherry Lou VanDyke
Sherry Lou VanDyke, 84, passed away on January 28, 2026, at Brickyard Healthcare in Kokomo. Sherry was born in Monroe, Michigan, on March 3, 1941, to Vernon and Edna (Doan) Hoghe. She graduated from Galveston High School in 1959. In July 1959, she married the love of her life Carl Pettay. After Carl’s passing, Sherry married Roger VanDyke in May 1985.
Sherry worked at JC Penney in Kokomo, Controls in Logansport, and at one time was owner of The House of Sounds in Peru, IN. In 2022, Sherry moved to assisted living at Bloom in Kokomo and moved to Brickyard Healthcare in November 2025.
Sherry is survived by her sisters Linda Lovegrove and Janet (Bill) Lovelace as well as grandchildren Shawneci Windell and Cole (Pettay) Trueblood. Sherry is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear cousins in Ohio. Longtime friends Janet Pullen and Kelly Huskins also survive. She was preceded in death by her husbands Carl Pettay and Roger VanDyke. Her only child Eric Pettay passed away in February 2016. Also preceding her in death was her brother-in-law Mike Lovegrove in August 2025.
A service for Sherry will be Friday, February 27 at 2:00 PM at Murray-Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston, IN. The family would like to thank Chris Weaver for his help with the arrangements. Murray-Weaver Funeral Home will conduct the burial at a later time depending on the weather.
Julie Lynn (Myers) VanHorn
Julie Lynn (Myers) VanHorn, 67, of Greenwood, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, after a long and hard-fought battle with multiple sclerosis. She was born on April 1, 1958, to her parents Truman Myers and Maxine (Richie) Myers in Kokomo, Indiana. Julie married Jeffery VanHorn on September 6, 1980, and they were married for 34 years until Jeff’s death in 2014.
Julie graduated from Taylor High School in the class of 1976. She worked for several years at Delco Electronics (now GM Components) before her MS diagnosis in 1990. She lived a quiet life that was focused on faith, family, and friends. If you knew her, you were blessed. Julie had a presence that put others at ease. She took the time to get to know people. Julie carried herself in a way that lifted others up. She could make just about anyone laugh with her quick wit. She was definitely responsible for bringing a great deal of joy to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed!
Those left to carry on Julie’s legacy of love are: son Justin VanHorn, his wife Nicole, and granddaughter Scarlett of Greenwood, IN; son Jon VanHorn, his wife Erica, and grandsons George and Lucas of San Carlos, CA; boyfriend Bob Smith of Franklin, IN; sister Debbie Russeau and her husband John of Russiaville, IN; sister-in-law Judy Logan and her husband Pat of Sebring, FL; brother-in-law Jim VanHorn and his wife Stacy of Greenfield, IN; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as beloved dog Midnight.
Julie was welcomed into Heaven by her husband Jeffery VanHorn; parents Truman and Maxine Myers; and mother- & father-in-law Joe and Joanne VanHorn.

Phyllis Jean Tedder
Phyllis Jean Tedder, 87, of Kokomo, passed away at Century Villa Health Care, Greentown, IN, on February 9, 2026. Born on September 25, 1938, she was the only child of Emmett and Mildred (Pattengale) Wright. A compassionate and kind-hearted woman, Phyllis spent her early years in Kokomo, Indiana, where she graduated from Kokomo High School in 1956. As a teenager, she played the steel guitar and nurtured a lifelong passion for animals, especially cats and dogs, rescuing and rehoming many throughout her years.
Phyllis dedicated 42 years of her career to Stearns’ Moving & Storage. On February 28, 1957, she married George “Malcolm” Tedder, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a family filled with love and warmth. Phyllis is survived by her son Gregory Tedder and daughter Kimberly Wainwright. Her cherished granddaughter Brookelyn (Justin) Williams, along with great-granddaughters Phoenix Steele and Alana Williams and great-grandson Lincoln Williams, brought immense joy to her life. She also leaves behind a brother-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
A lover of country music, Phyllis found joy in cooking, baking, and conversing with friends over the phone. During her time at Century Villa Health Care, she enjoyed playing BINGO, listening to outside performers, and engaging in word search puzzles and coloring. Her love for animals remained a constant throughout her life.
Phyllis will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. Her legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to inspire those who knew her. The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Paradigm Health for their loving care, compassion, and kindness.
In accordance with Phyllis’ wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. The family will plan a private Celebration of Life. In her memory, memorials may be directed to The Kokomo Humane Society.
Danny Eugene West
Danny Eugene West, born on August 21, 1955, passed away on February 8, 2026, at the age of 70. He was known for his faithful and kind-hearted nature, touching the lives of many.
Danny loved walking and could often be found strolling through Markland Mall. He made friends wherever he went and never met a stranger. He was a passionate fan of the Indiana Pacers and Purdue. Among his many talents, Danny proudly referred to himself as a chef, often sporting his chef’s hat and jacket while preparing meals for those he loved.
He was previously a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Southside Christian Church, and St. Luke Methodist Church. At the time of his passing, he was a devoted member of Peace Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his father Albert Leroy West; his mother Bobbie Gene West; his paternal grandparents Bertha Markley, Kelly Markley, and Roy Paul West; and his former wives Diane West, Rebecca West, and Teresa West.
Danny is survived by his sister Ruth Hoosier; his brothers Michael West (Christina) and James West (Shelley); and his fiancée Betty Zehring. He also leaves behind his cherished nieces and nephews: Renanda Hoosier, Copper Hoosier, Korey West, Kollan West, Karson West, Kaleb West, Kayla Maddock, Chelsea Fields, Erika Tegarden, and Elijah West; along with many great-nieces and great-nephews. His best friend Louis Wiggington, who was more like a brother, also survives.
Danny’s life will be celebrated and remembered as a testament to his spirited, uplifting, and loving nature. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Janet Carroll Meeks
Janet Carroll Meeks, a cherished sister, cousin, and friend, left this world on February 7, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on November 26, 1952, in Logansport, Indiana, to the late John “Jack” and Barbara Carroll, Janet’s zest for life and creative spirit touched all who knew her. She passed away peacefully in Peru, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and artistry that will be fondly remembered by her family and community.
After graduating from Evansville Bosse High School, Janet pursued her passion for healthcare by earning her degree in Radiology from Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. She dedicated her career to the field, serving as a radiology technician until her retirement in 2010. Her professional skill and compassionate care left a lasting impact on both her colleagues and the many patients she helped throughout her career.
Janet’s creativity was not confined to her professional life; she was also a talented artist who found joy in repurposing furniture and creating beautiful, artistic decorations. Her hands were rarely still, as she delighted in the challenge of breathing new life into old pieces, transforming them into works of art that graced the homes of her friends and family.
A lover of music and movement, Janet was known for her love of dancing. Her light-footed grace on the dance floor was a sight to behold, and she could often be found twirling and stepping to the music she loved. In her retirement, Janet discovered a new passion for square dancing and round dancing, activities that brought her immense joy and allowed her to forge deep connections within the dancing community.
Janet’s sense of humor was as vibrant as her dance steps. She was often described as funny, with a quick wit and a talent for bringing laughter to any situation. Her spirited nature and creative mind made her a delightful companion, and her stories and jokes will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of sharing in her company.
Janet is survived by her brother Stephen Carroll and several cousins in the Logansport area, and her best friend since high school Ronna Green. Her family will miss her dearly but takes comfort in knowing that her legacy of humor, creativity, and spirited enthusiasm for life will continue to inspire those who knew her.
As we bid farewell to Janet Carroll Meeks, we celebrate the many ways in which she enriched our lives. Her laughter, her creativity, and her love of dance will live on in our hearts, reminding us to embrace life with the same vivacity and joy that Janet did every day. Her spirit, now free to dance among the stars, leaves us with cherished memories that will be treasured forever.

Edgar L. Carter Jr.
Edgar L. Carter Jr., known to family and friends as Ed, was born on May 24, 1957, and joined his Heavenly Father on February 6, 2026, in Kokomo, Indiana. He married the love of his life, the former Vickie Hewetson, on September 12, 1997.
Ed attended Taylor schools and, at just 17 years old, joined the United States Marine Corps, serving his country at a young age.
After his military service, Ed worked in a variety of fields before eventually retiring as a welder from Moon Fabrication in Kokomo.
Ed was raised by his mother Bettie Sue Querry and developed a strong relationship with the Lord from a young age. He loved his family at Christ Fellowship Ministries in Kokomo, where he faithfully attended and shared in fellowship. He was also proud of his time in recovery and cherished the many friends he made in that community.
An avid outdoorsman, Ed enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time in nature whenever he could.
He was preceded in death by his mother Bettie Sue Querry; his brother Jeff; his sister Sherri; his granddaughter Laike; and his daughter-in-law Jessica.
Ed is survived by his wife Vickie Carter; his children Curt Williams (Jessica), Jamie Hines (Jeff), and Jason Miller (Ashley); and he was a loving Papo to grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Nick, Shelby, Leif, Luke, Arianna, Gabe, Aras, and Storm.
Per Ed’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held when warmer weather arrives.
Valda Dorene (Dolin) Williams
Valda Dorene (Dolin) Williams, 67, of Lebanon, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, with her husband by her side. She was born on April 19, 1958, in Warren, Michigan, to Jim and Irene Dolin.
Valda graduated from Kokomo High School and went on to work as a hairstylist until she met the love of her life Darrell Williams. A woman of faith, Valda loved the Lord, cherished her family, and found joy in singing and painting. She looked for the good in people and found beauty in the smallest things.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years Darrell Williams; her three sons Darrell Williams, Brian Williams, and Jonathan Williams; and her grandchildren Preston Pearce, Braeden Shafer, Lauren Farley, Darrell Williams II, Vailia Williams, and Baron Williams. She is also survived by her four brothers Jim (Sue) Dolin, Mike Dolin, Dennis (Kelly) Dolin, and David (Denise) Dolin, along with several nieces and nephews.
Valda was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Irene Dolin and her sister Verna Horn.
Her family will forever remember her kindness, creativity, and unwavering love.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with her cremation.
