Troy “Bud” Curtis Browning
Troy “Bud” Curtis Browning, 92 years old, of Kokomo, IN, passed away 12:12 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Wellbrooke of Kokomo. He was born in Maynardville, TN, on March 7, 1934, the son of the late Vaughn and Gladys (Walker) Browning. On November 27, 1952, he married Rose Cole, and she preceded him in death on February 23, 2017.
Bud retired from Delco Electronics where he worked as a truck driver. His favorite hobbies were tinkering in the garage, watching sports, and working on tractors. He and his wife Rose were snowbirds down to Winter Haven, FL, for more than 20 years. Bud will be remembered for being ornery.
He is survived by his children Rick Browning, Steve (Trisha) Browning, Teresa (Brian) Guy, and Lisa (Carl) McClaine; grandchildren Jill (Kip) Conaway, Amy Browning, Eric Browning, Alyssa (Josh) Orrick, Jamie Daniels, Travis (Rachel) Guy, Ashley Hunt, and Beth (Codi) Sutton; 21 great-grandchildren and one on the way; three great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers-in-law Bill (Jo) Cole and Bob (Linda) Cole; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings Helen, Wanda, Jewell, and Ronald; daughter-in-law Bonnie Browning; a great-grandchild Evie Rose; two brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law.

Candis Lynne Wyant
Candis Lynne Wyant, age 43, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on March 31, 2026.
Born in Kokomo, Candis was a loving daughter, mother, sister, and friend whose warmth touched everyone she met. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel like family, offering love freely and wholeheartedly to those around her.
She was also deeply cared for by her devoted caregiver and dear friend Trisha Mossholder Shepard, whose compassion, friendship, and unwavering support meant so much to Candis and her family. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her two sons Paul and Joseph, whom she loved deeply and was endlessly proud of.
Candis found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. She loved dancing, music, and writing poetry—often using her words to express the depth of her heart—and cherished any opportunity to gather with family and celebrate.
Her vibrant, fiery soul and willingness to share her feelings openly created deep, lasting connections and memories for all who knew her. She had no doubt where she was going, and she found comfort in her faith. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her loving heart, her joyful energy, and the way she brought people together.
Candis is survived by her two sons Paul and Joseph Lowery; her father Marvin Wyant and his wife Laura; her mother Carol Snyder and husband James; her sister Cherie Wilson and husband Joshua; her nieces Alexandria and Roxanna Wilson; as well as her aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family, all of whom she loved very much.
Her love lives on in all who know her.

Stanley Earl “Butch” Kucholick
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father.
Stanley Earl “Butch” Kucholick, 79, of Galveston, passed away peacefully at 6:01 p.m., on Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo. He was born on August 28, 1946, in Kokomo, Indiana. He was the son of Stanley Joseph and Dana Jeanne (St. John) Kucholick. He was engaged to his love Cindy (Hultz) Walker, and she survives.
Stan was a 1964 graduate of Kokomo High School. He worked as a supervisor at Delco Electronics for 41 years and retired in September of 2008. He was a lifetime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and lived and devoted his life for his Lord. He proudly served our country in the United States Army and was a member of the Galveston American Legion. Stan was a skilled baseball player in high school. He was offered a scholarship to play baseball at University of Kentucky. He played baseball while in the Army and for semi-professional team the Kokomo Highlanders, after he was honorably discharged.
Stan really looked forward to his Friday morning breakfast with his buddies. He found joy in doing almost any activity outdoors, but especially hunting, fishing, golfing, and mushroom hunting. Stan will be remembered for being witty and playing practical jokes on people. He was supportive of his grandchildren’s sporting events and extracurricular activities. In his later years of life, Stan had an ever-growing passion for showing his cherished dogs Utah, Indiana, Pixie, and Molly. Stan and Cindy enjoyed traveling the country together, showing their beloved fur babies and socializing with their French Brittany dog family.
Stan is survived by his fiancée Cindy Walker; children Sonya (Tanner Rinehart) Kucholick, Jennifer (Brandon) Wilson, Leisa (Chris) Nixon, Ruthanna (Keith) Kile, and Stanley (Chelsea) Kucholick; siblings Kathann Zehring, Karole (Terry) Smith, Christine Kucholick-McKillip, John Kucholick, Mark Kucholick, Debra (Dan) Robinson, Joseph (Kim) Kucholick, James Kucholick, and Karen Kucholick; sister-in-law Janet Kucholick; grandchildren Michael Kucholick, Ryan (Erica) Nearon, Kayla (Mickey) Snider, Joshua (Sara) Snider, Tyler (Sara) Nearon, Braiden Walton, Feenix Kile, Bryson Walton, Ella Dean, Fuddy Kile, Kaydence Wilson, Ireland Kile, Ila Nixon, and Nolan Nixon; great-grandchildren Cloye, Paige, Hunter, Michaela, Elaina, Rozlyn, Eric, Zaedyn, William, Oliver, and Sam; special love for Payson, Axel, Arelia, Eddie; and his beloved dog Indiana.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Stan’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington Street, Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. Christopher Shocklee the celebrant. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Robert “Big Dog” Hughes
Robert “Big Dog” Hughes passed on March 27, 2026, at the age of 62. Robert was born on February 3, 1964, in Kokomo to the late Johnny Paul Hughes and Maria G. (Salinas) McCoy, who survives.
Robert graduated from Kokomo High School in 1982. He retired from the Indiana Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer after 36 years of dedicated employment. Robert was a member of ABATE of Indiana for 38 years and a member of Indiana Freemasons Lodge #681 for 18 years.
Robert is survived by his mother Maria McCoy; sisters Jessica Thomas and Rhonda (Mark) Mayhew; brother James Hughes; niece Olivia Smith (Tristan Moore); best friend Greg Tedder; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his stepfather Roy McCoy; his father; and stepmother Jeanne Hughes.
There will be a visitation for Robert on Friday, April 10, from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 4:00 PM, at Ellers Mortuary and Cremation Center, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. There will be a private burial at later date at Crown Point Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Howard County Special Olympics.
Ruth Etelka “Tecky” Short
Ruth Etelka “Tecky” Short, 103 years old, of Kokomo, passed away 9:12 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. She was born in Princeton, IN, on June 10, 1922, the daughter of the late Charles Chester and Ruth E. (Guthrie) Steffey. On June 16, 1947, she married Harry W. Short in Indianapolis, IN, and he preceded her in death on May 30, 1990.
Tecky was a 1941 graduate of Shortridge High School. She worked at State Life Insurance in Indianapolis for two years. She later retired from Logansport Community Schools in May of 1982 after 15 years in the cafeteria. Tecky had a strong relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She gives him all the praise and credit for the long and healthy life she lived. She had a servant’s heart and looked for ways to help others. She was a faithful member of Baptist Temple Church for 65 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star #58 of Logansport for 66 years. Her 55 years of membership to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion displayed her patriotism.
Tecky had the best sense of humor and independence. She will be remembered for being curious and inquisitive about life. Tecky knew how to make an entrance and was the life of the party. She made countless, priceless family members camping around the United States. She was a skilled seamstress and often created dresses for family members. Tecky was so fascinated with cars and attending car shows.
Tecky is survived by her son Leslie W. (Deborah) Short; grandchildren Brian Short, Bradley (Heather) Short, and Jenessa (Jeshua) Mauldin; step-grandchildren Mathew Krewet and Rebecca Krewet; great-granddaughter Lowen Mauldin; many nieces and nephews; and special niece Leann Gates and her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Harry Randolph Short and Jeffrey T. Short; and siblings Resse (Charlie) Steffey, David Steffey, Margaret Johnson, and Sally Greene.
One of Tecky’s life mantras was to eat less, keep moving, and laugh more. She would often end phone calls and conversations by saying “Bye, for now.”

Terry J. Bell
Terry J. Bell, 65, of Kokomo, Indiana, went to Heaven on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, in Kokomo, Indiana.
He was born on January 29, 1961, in Kokomo, Indiana, to Robert and Katherine (Crousore) Bell, and they survive. Terry lived his life with a warm heart, a quick wit, and a generous spirit that touched everyone who knew him. He was known by those closest to him as funny, loving, and selfless, and those qualities were reflected in the way he treated his family, his friends, and everyone he met along the way.
Terry graduated from Kokomo High School in 1979 and later served his country in the United States Air Force. His time in service was an important part of his life, and it reflected the sense of duty and commitment that guided him throughout the years. After his military service, he worked at Borg Warner until his retirement, where he was respected as a dependable and hardworking employee. He carried himself with quiet strength and took pride in doing his part well.
On January 9, 2005, Terry married the love of his life Patti Bell, and together they built a life centered on family, loyalty, and shared memories. Their marriage was a source of joy and companionship, and Terry treasured the life they created together. Family was truly the center of Terry’s world, and he found his greatest happiness in time spent with the people he loved most.
He is survived by his wife Patti Bell; his children Anthony Bell and his wife Amanda, Amanda Stewart and her husband Josh, Sean Bozarth and his wife Katie, and Tarra Yoder and her husband Devon; his siblings Sherri Bell, Steve Bell and his wife Tina, Phil Bell and his wife Debbie, and Mike Mooney; and many beloved grandchildren Hayden, Rissa, Seth, Griffin, Jenny, Adrik, Crosby, Marley, Avett, and Hazel. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and his best friend Terry Davis. He was preceded in death by his sister Kimberly Mooney and in-laws Donald Launius and Alice Launius.
Terry was a proud and devoted grandfather, and he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, especially bowling, auto racing, and spending time at the Kokomo Speedway. He also looked forward to going to the Indy 500 with his family, where memories were made that will be remembered for years to come. A lifelong sports fan, Terry was especially devoted to the New York Jets, and he followed them with the same enthusiasm and loyalty he brought to so many parts of his life.
Those who knew Terry will remember his humor, his kindness, and the way he made others feel valued. He had a selfless nature and a loving heart, and he was always ready to put family first. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and strength to those around him, and his memory will remain a lasting blessing to all who loved him.
Terry J. Bell will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the life he lived, the family he loved, and the many ways he made this world a better place. The family will have a private service at a later date.
