Mary E. Klein, Mona Ione Downhour, David “Dave” Thomas Shuck, Brian Calvert

Mary E. Klein

Mary E. Klein entered into this world in Springfield, Ohio, on August 17, 1937. She departed this life on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the age of 88 at The Waters of Tipton. Her parents were John V. & Eloise (Garrett) Colvin. She married George R. “Dick” Klein on October 29, 1960, and he preceded her in death on October 30, 2025.

Mary and Dick were loyal members of the Normanda Christian Church. Survivors include her three children Bryan Klein, Kathi Klein, and Pam Fisher, as well as her sister-in-law Nancy Colvin of Waynesville, Ohio.

Mary also has 12 grandchildren: Katie Klein, Britney Klein, Dekan Klein, Olyvia Klein, Brandon Fisher, Jacob Fisher, Bethany VanSickle, Haley Ney, Addie Bell, Moriah Moore, Janae Chang, and Amy Gardner. She was preceded in death by one grandson Parker Klein and siblings Keneth Colvin, Robert Colvin, John Colvin, Anna Hayden, and Norma Smouse.

Funeral services for Mary will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, at the Normanda Christian Church, 8019 W. Division Road, Tipton, with Steve Brown presiding. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. Saturday until the time of the service.

Mona Ione Downhour

Mona Ione Downhour, 94, of Flora, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the home of her daughter. Mona was born January 7, 1932, in Forest, IN, to the late Ross and Edith (Fletcher) Jordan.

Mona was treasured by her family and friends for her wonderful sense of humor and her love of adventure. A 1949 graduate of Cutler High School, she was a balloon decorator for over 20 years, decorating several events, including many at Purdue University. She also worked for the Indiana State Board of Health, retiring after 20 years of service. Mona was a member of Deer Creek Presbyterian Church and the Indiana Balloon Network. She enjoyed many hobbies, but reading was her favorite pastime.

She was previously married to her children’s father Richard Porter. She then married Richard Downhour, who preceded her in death on March 23, 2006.

Mona was the beloved mother of Susan Craig, Denise (Mark) Good, and Joy (Mark) Depoy. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four stepchildren Debra Beckner, Patricia Jordan, Albert Downhour, and David Downhour; and 10 step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers Ross Jordan and Lee Jordan and by her stepson Gary Downhour.

A funeral service celebrating Mona’s life will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2026, at Deer Creek Presbyterian Church, 4450 IN-29, Camden, IN 46917, with Pastor Mark Munson officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the church from 11 a.m. until the start of the service. David “Dave” Thomas Shuck

David “Dave” Thomas Shuck, 60, of Kokomo, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at his home. He was born on November 14, 1965, the son of David C. and Donna J. (Simmons) Shuck. On July 9, 2016, he married Sheila Light in Lafayette, IN, and she survives.

Dave was a 1985 graduate of Kokomo High School. He worked as a manufacturing associate with NHK Seating of America for more than 20 years. He previously retired from Kroger as a produce manager. He loved to work. Dave enjoyed fishing, trips to Kentucky Lake, camping in his camper, and celebrating the Fourth of July.

Dave is survived by his wife Sheila; parents David & Donna Shuck; children Kasey (Brad) Slabaugh, Kody (Alyssa) Shuck, and Kameron (Brandi) Shuck; grandchildren Mitchell Bostic, Braxton Bostic, Alayah Shuck, Kayden Shuck, Kyler Shuck, Lavaya Shuck, and Ashlynn Slabaugh; brother Scott (Danielle) Shuck; brother-in-law Alex Harris; and several nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Joetta Light, and father-in-law Gordon Light.

A funeral service celebrating Dave’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., Monday, May 11, 2026, at the funeral home. Brian Calvert

Brian Calvert, 67, of Kokomo, passed away on May 1, 2026, at 2:05 AM at Ascension St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital. He was born on July 19, 1958, to the late Dorsey and Joan (Parks) Calvert.

Brian graduated from Hayworth High School in 1976. He worked in hotel and property management throughout his life. Brian enjoyed cooking and having family dinners. He was also enjoyed keeping tropical fish. Brian was an avid IU fan and loved the Indy 500, as he had fond memories of going to the race with his parents.

He was known as a caring man who was a caregiver to both his parents until their passing. Brian organized an annual Alzheimer’s/Dementia walk with his family in honor of his father and grandfather. He loved dogs, especially his grand-dogs Milo, Lucy, Noa, and Brie. Brian adored life-long friendships with some of his best friends who became more like family to him. Above all, Brian enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.

Surviving family include two daughters Courtney (Brian) Carness and Charla (Jeremy) Calvert-Clem; granddaughters Riley Clem and Emily Carness; brother Mike (Carol) Calvert; sister Sherry Little; nieces Kristen Calvert and Amy (Barry) Rhodes; nephew Justin (Brandy) Sumner; great nieces London Bratz and Charlie Rhodes; and several aunts and cousins.

Preceded in death are his parents; uncles Doran Calvert and Ronald Calvert; aunts Cleora Kouns and Mary Calvert; and cousin Gary Calvert.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for Memorial Day Weekend. Details of event will be provided as soon as possible.
