Jane Ann Bell

Jane Ann Bell, 81, Cutler, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo. She was born September 24, 1944, in Forest, IN, the daughter of the late Garnet Thomas and Martha (Like) Thomas. On March 28, 1965, she married the love of her life Gary Bell in Russiaville, and he survives. They shared more than 61 years of marriage, building a beautiful life and family together.

Jane was a 1962 graduate of Western High School, where she enjoyed cheerleading and spending time with friends. She also graduated from the State Beauty College in Marion. She owned her own beauty shop, located on the property at their home, where she worked for more than 15 years as a cosmetologist. She also helped administratively at her family business Bell Tooling. Jane loved the Lord and was a member of Burlington Faith Church of Christ, where she sang in the choir during musicals and later was a faithful member of Crossroads Community Christian Church.

Jane’s family meant everything to her, and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and baking and had a reputation for making the best pies around! She loved taking family fishing trips in the summertime to McArdle’s resort in Minnesota when their children were young and traveling to Siesta Key with Gary when they were older. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially Bunko and Euchre, with her friends. Jane was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending Carroll High School sporting events and choir concerts.

In addition to her husband Gary, Jane is survived by her children Suzanne Bell of Kokomo and Brandon (Dayna) Bell of Cutler; grandchildren Maria and Rowan Bell; sister Janice (Larry) Waddell; and sisters-in-law Joyce Cook and Joan Thomas.

Jane was preceded in death by her infant son Michael; parents; in-laws Clarence R. and Mary M. Bell; brother Joe Thomas; sister-in-law Reita Faucett; and brother-in-law Larry Cook. Also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

A funeral service celebrating Jane’s life will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Crossroads Community Christian Church, 3570 E. 200 S. Bringhurst, with Pastor Dan Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in Ball Hill Cemetery. Glenda Sue Long

Glenda Sue Long, daughter of the late Arville McClain and Rosie Mae (Ward) McClain, was born May 4, 1951, in Deering, Missouri, and departed this life on September 10, 2026, in Kennett, Missouri, at the age of 75 years, four months, and six days. Glenda was a homemaker.

Survivors include: son Brian Long of Kennett, Missouri; daughter Mary Long of Kennett, Missouri; two brothers Larry McClain and Darrell McClain, both of Kokomo, Indiana; and sister Claria Fletcher of Kokomo, Indiana.

Glenda was the youngest of 11 boys and girls.

Visitation will be 11:00 AM - 1:00 P.M. Monday, September 14, 2026, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett. Funeral Services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday at the McDaniel Chapel. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett. Larry McClain will officiate. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Richie Leeker, Derrick Burkhalter, Justin Burkhalter, James Crew, Jason McClain, and Chris Morgan.

Nancy E. Conwell

Nancy E. Conwell, 89, of Kokomo, went home to be with the Lord at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at her home. She was born May 17, 1937, in Kokomo, to Harry and Edna (Mumaw) Butler. She married Richard E. Conwell on July 1, 1955, and he preceded her in death May 13, 2018.

Nancy was a seamstress for several dry cleaners in the Kokomo area. She enjoyed crochet, sewing, quilting, and reading. She loved feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard. She had been a member of Southcreek Church in Kokomo for many years.

Surviving family include her children Rick Allen Conwell and significant other Mickey Schilling–Morris of Wilkenson, Indiana; Melanie J. Dotterer of Kokomo; and Ellen (Glenn) Scott of Rochester. Her grandchildren include Autumn (Tim) Farr of Kokomo, Bailey Scott of Rochester, Taylor Dotterer of Kokomo, and Redmon Conwell of Galveston. She is Great-Grandma to Hannah Mallard and Great-Great-Grandma to Kinsley, Kambree, and Bentley. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, sister Mary Mason, and brother Russell Butler.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston. Brenda Joyce Crump

Brenda Joyce Crump (Aunt Goofy), 61, passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 12, 2026, at 1:48 p.m. in Indianapolis, Indiana. Brenda was born on March 30, 1965, in Oregon to Leo and Dorothy Hamby. Brenda married her husband Claude Crump on July 10, 1985. He preceded her in death in 2018.

Brenda was a football fanatic—specifically a lover of the Denver Broncos and the Indianapolis Colts. She loved her diamond art, Hello Kitty, the character Goofy (that’s where her nickname comes from), and her many doggies and kitties over the years. She especially loved Christmas and would have Christmas decor up year-round. Brenda was a regular attendee of the Center Road Church of Christ. She worked for many years for Wells Fargo in the mortgage department. In 2024, she retired and moved to Kokomo, Indiana, to be closer to family.

Brenda leaves behind her two children Raymond (Kristen) Crump and Lizzie (Kevin) Crump; her three grandchildren Liam, Mila, and Sephy; her mother Dorothy; her sisters Patty Beckett and Lorie (Russ) Coffman; her nieces and nephews Courtney (Justin) Butler, Sean (Carly Ratliff) Morgan, Tori (Levi Crosier) Beckett, and Terry Beckett; and her great-nieces and nephew Braxton, Riley, and Robin. Her son Curtis Crump, her daddy Leo Hamby, and her brother-in-law Scott Beckett preceded her in death.

Brenda’s family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of Ascension St. Vincent Hospital for the care that Brenda received during her illness.

John Robert Kingsolver was born on September 27, 1933, and passed away on September 9, 2026. He is under the care of Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home & Cemetery.

Robert Hayes

Mr. Robert Hayes, 75, formerly of Kokomo, peacefully transitioned at 1:07 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, in Mishawaka, Indiana.

Family, friends, and the Kokomo community will lovingly remember Mr. Hayes on Saturday, September 19, in the sanctuary of Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church, 920 N. Apperson Way. Public Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The Homegoing Service will convene at 12:00 p.m., where Rev. William L. Gary serves as Pastor. E. Eileen (Bishop) Bohall

E. Eileen (Bishop) Bohall, 93, of Kokomo, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Community Howard Regional Health Hospital. She was born on October 26, 1932, in Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of the late Blyde and Helen (Reimer) Bishop. On March 24, 1961, she married Dale Eugene Bohall, who preceded her in death on May 26, 2025, after 64 years of marriage.

Eileen was a 1951 graduate of Greensburg High School. After moving to Kokomo in 1965, she served as the vice president, secretary, and accountant for their family business Bohall’s Heating & Air Conditioning. Eileen’s faith and relationship with God were a priority throughout her life. When her children were in their youth, she attended Fairfield Christian Church, where she founded the Youth Prayer Breakfast with her friend Betty Oberholtzer. After retiring, she spent her winters in Bradenton Fla., where she attended Trailer Estates Covenant Church. During the summer months, she was a member of First Congregational Church in downtown Kokomo. She enjoyed crafting, crocheting, and gardening. She was a committed member of the group Share a Craft, making handmade crafts which were sold for charitable causes. She lived an adventurous life full of camping and traveling to all 50 states and many other countries. Eileen will be remembered for her loving and caring personality. She took great pride in all of her children and grandchildren.

Eileen is survived by her sons Carl (Diane) Bohall and Ronald (Gerri) Phillips; daughters-in-law Judy Bohall and Vicki Ryckman; grandchildren Brooke Bohall, Matt Bohall, Ashleigh Bohall, Staci Elliott, Heather Ryckman, Christopher Ryckman, Sarah Ryckman, Holly Hall, and Jake Phillips; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister Flora Noble.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Rick Ryckman, David Bohall, and infant Randy Phillips; brother Leo Bishop; and daughter-in-law Nancy Phillips.

Ellen Louise (Klingman) Pettay

Ellen Louise (Klingman) Pettay, 80, passed away at 8:15 p.m., Monday, September 7, 2026, at Bell Trace Health and Living Center in Bloomington, IN. She was born at Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru, IN on April 13, 1946, the daughter of Titus Andrew and Jewell Aldine (Clelland) Klingman, who lived in Amboy, IN, at the time.

Ellen was a 1964 graduate of Eastern High School, Greentown, IN; she graduated in 1968 from Hanover College with an English major and earned her Master’s in English from Indiana University, graduating on June 8, 1970, when she married Lee Pattay in Beck Chapel on campus. Following the completion of her education, Ellen remained in the classroom teaching the next generation of students at University High School until the birth of her son Bobby. Thereafter she worked at Indiana University for 28 years as Editor for the IU Alumni Association, simultaneously spending more than a decade as the Administrative Assistant for the IU Facility Council.

Ellen was beautiful, funny, smart and all her students loved her. She had gracious manners and could always light up a room with her contagious smile. She was a woman of faith. She displayed her love (and talent) for singing participating in many choirs. A highlight of her youth, Ellen was very proud to be a Miss Indiana Runner-Up in 1968. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the Bloomington Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, IU Alumni Association and Greentown Historical Society. Ellen also was a member of the Converse Chapter #334 Order of Eastern Star and enjoyed attending many church conferences.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son Robert Andrew Pettay, a grandson Kelvin Andrew Pettay, and infant brother Jack Clelland Klingman. There will be a celebration of life held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 26, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2411 E. 2nd St., Bloomington, IN, 47401. Ellen will be laid to rest next to her son and parents in a private burial held at Park Lawn Cemetery, Amboy, IN.

Dorothy Jean “Dot” Etter

Dorothy Jean “Dot” Etter, 93, Kokomo, passed away at 4:53 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Delphi. She was born July 17, 1933, in Bethlehem, Kentucky, the daughter of the late George Dewey Cartwright & Gladys (Ray) Cartwright-Branan.

Dot was a 1951 graduate of Bosse High School in Evansville. She then went on to graduate in 1954 from Wishard-Eskenazi School of Nursing, retiring from Community Howard Regional Health as an RN for the ER, ICU, and as a supervisor for the medical surgery floor. She also served as director of nursing for Howard Community In-Home Health Care. When Dot moved to Arizona, she served as head RN for In-Home Health Care for Veterans and a member of Valley Desert Hills Lutheran Church.

Dot was a member of Tri Kappa, Samaritan Caregivers, and PEO. In her younger years, she was a member of Shiloh Methodist Church. Everyone who knew Dot knew she had an obsession with hats; she loved them. She was known in the family as the “Love Lady,” always signing notes or cards with “Dot with Love.” She enjoyed playing golf up until she was about 80 years old. Dot also loved playing Mahjong and card games, such as Bridge and Euchre. Dot was a Mary Kay consultant and considered herself a professional shopper and fashionista. She had a great sense of humor and was truly loved by all who knew her, and she never met a stranger.

Dot is survived by her children Kirk (Patsy) Hanaway, Bret (Sarah) Hanaway, Bart (Amy) Hanaway, and Joni (Lee) Ennis; grandchildren Jamie (Jason) Seibert, Meghan McClain, Erika (Jesse) Dale, and Lora (Jake) Adams; great-grandchildren Grace Seibert, Emma Seibert, Tate Seibert, Raygan McClain, Emelyn Adams, Paylin McClain, Macguire Adams, Stella Seibert, Jensen Seibert, Callahan Adams, Sullivan Adams, and Shiloh Dale; niece and nephews Tom (Sarah) Cartwright, Debbie (Mike) Edwards, and David Cartwright, along with several great nieces and nephews.

Dot was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Richard Hanaway and Gene Etter; siblings Dewey Cartwright, Jimmy Cartwright, and infant brother JP Cartwright; and nephew Dwayne Cartwright.

A celebration of Dot’s life will start at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2026, at PASTAriffic, 3001 S. Webster Street, Kokomo, with the Nursing Honor Guard, followed by Bruce Hankins officiating.
