Wendell E. Miller Sr.
Wendell E. Miller Sr., 82, Kokomo, passed away at 7:25 am Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at his home. He was born March 2, 1941, in Joplin, MO to Carl H. and Ruby J. (Bristo) Miller. On October21, 1961 he married Patricia Shaffer who preceded him in death on December 30, 2014.
Wendell proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who cherished spending time with his grandchildren. Wendell enjoyed being outdoors whether he was traveling, fishing, hunting, or sitting around a campfire. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his love of helping others.
He is survived by his children, Kevin E. Miller, Kimberly L. Miller, Wendell E. “Gene” (Michelle) Miller Jr, and Leroy H. (Julie) Miller; along with 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Carl D. Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; daughter-in-law, Kelly Miller; as well as two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Richard Wrightsman officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Point Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 am until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Carol Ann Langston
Carol Ann Langston, 80, Kokomo, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, October 10, 2023, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo, Indiana surrounded by her family. She was born on August 12, 1943, in Kokomo, Indiana, daughter of Fred and Millie (Ferguson) Parkhurst. She married Gary C. Langston on May 25, 1968, at the West Middleton United Methodist Church.
Carol graduated from Western High School in 1961. She hired in at Delco Electronics/Delphi in February of 1962 in the Purchasing Department where she had a very long and successful career. Carol retired in April 2001.
Carol and Gary had a lake house on Lake Freeman from 1987 until 2016. They enjoyed hosting family and friends at the Lake and also the Friday night neighborhood potluck gatherings. They also spent the winters in Bonita Springs/Estero, Florida for the last 18 years where they enjoyed their neighbors and friends at Sunny Grove Park and Bonita Springs Moose Lodge 1454. When in Kokomo, they enjoyed visiting with friends at the VFW Post 1152 at the Forty & Eight Club.
Carol enjoyed playing and “winning” at Euchre. She was known for going for loners and succeeding at a very high rate. She was an amazing cook and each child and grandchild had a different favorite dish of hers. Carol also enjoyed reading and playing a round of golf with her Walton, Indiana, golf league and her Sunny Grove ladies. You could find Carol wearing Gold and Black quite often. She was a devoted Purdue Boilermaker fan. She was also a fan of the Colts, Pacers, Cubbies, and any team her kids or grandchildren were on. A true competitor, Carol also was an avid watcher of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
Carol is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gary; her children, Tom (Angie) Hayes, Kokomo, Bill Langston, Cutler, Laurie Brower, Flora, Cindy (Jay) Cummins, Bloomington, Illinois, Mindy Langston, Fishers, and Dick (Julie) Langston, Cutler; grandchildren, Ashley Hayes, Kokomo, Jordan( David Booher) Hayes, Marion, Danielle Williams, Russiaville, Devin Hopwood, Indianapolis, Andrew (Elizabeth) Langston, Cutler, Abby (Ben) Constable, Cutler, Matt (Jennifer) Brower, Cutler, Marcia (Justin) Gyles, Missoula, Montana, Elizabeth (Christian) Beck, Bloomington, Illinois, Emily (Kelby) Rivera, Normal, Illinois, Natalie (Joseph) DiCicco, Winfield, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Paige Williams, Isaac Langston, Evan Langston, Kara (Chandler Peplinski) Acord, Alexzia Acord, Lillie Acord, Cameron (Delaney) Langston, Carson Burkle, Cain Burkle, Lennox Constable, Amia Brower, Caleb Hernandez, Caitlyn Martin, Colby Martin, MaKenna Martin, Bailey Boyles, Braxton Boyles, Carter Beck, Olivia Beck, Louie DiCicco, Jude DiCicco, Sylvie DiCicco, brother Tom (Barb) Parkhurst, brother-in-law Ed (Linda) Langston, sister-in-law Linda Heinzelman, special nieces and nephews, Dionne Parkhurst, Nicole (John) Ridens, Troy Anderson, special cousins in Tennessee, Judy Ferguson Lynch, Rodney Ferguson, Teresa Ferguson Toole, special friends, Bob and Debbie Dishon, Bill and Judy Hargraves, Lester and Nancy Markle, Bob and Jackie Robinson, special neighbors, Terry and Bonnie Smith.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and great-grandchild Naomi DiCicco.
The family would like to thank the nurses, technicians, respiratory therapists, doctors and support staff at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital who provided wonderful care for Carol in her final days. Special thanks to Dr. Tuchscherer and RN Paula Herr.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, Indiana. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeff Harlow and Pastor Bill Martin officiating.
