Louise Mae Ray

Louise Mae Ray, 86, of Kokomo, passed away at her daughter’s home at 1:11pm on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born December 25, 1936, in Vincennes, to Walter A. and Frances S. (Welton) Vieke. On November 3, 1956, she married Lawrence Joseph “Joe” Ray, in Vincennes, and he preceded her in death on April 19, 2018.

Louise graduated from St. Rose Academy in Vincennes in 1954. She was a devoted wife and homemaker and had also worked at Mildred’s Flower Shop and Hook’s Drug Store. Louise was a crafty person, and she enjoyed decorating for the holidays, doing crossword puzzles, going shopping, taking vacations and going to garage sales. Her family was her life, and she cherished spending time with them, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Liston (Jim), Shelly Miller, and Susan Ray (Tammy Russell); brothers, Walter Vieke Jr. (Linda) and Joe Vieke (Norma); sister, Margaret Sparenberg; grandchildren, Kristy Craig, Mike Miller (Amy), Joey Miller, Carter Craig, Isabella, Annabelle, and Charlotte Miller; one estranged daughter; and several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by infant son, Michael; son, Jeff; grandsons, Eddie Williams and Mark Craig; sister, Mary Faulkner; and several in-laws.

The family would like to give special thanks to her wonderful caregivers, Kathy Prien, Rita Thompson, Melissa Sholty, and Staci Bitner, and most of all, a heartfelt thank you to Tammy Russell and Laney Jones whose compassion, care and selflessness made it possible for us to take care of her at home. The family would also like to extend thanks to the nurses of Elara Caring and the nurses of Paradigm palliative and hospice care. She will be missed beyond belief.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, with Fr. Christopher Shocklee officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Peggy Joan Cresto

Peggy Joan Cresto, 91, Kokomo, passed away at 4:52 pm on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at her home. She was born to the late Earl and Mable Yater on November 5, 1932. She married the father of her children, Joseph Powell, and he preceded her in death in 1987.

Peggy was a 1950 graduate of Northwestern High School. She worked for the I.G.A. in Hartford City and retired after 20 years of service. She was a member of Poplar Grove Church. She enjoyed selling Longaberger baskets in her spare time.

Peggy is survived by her son, Lee Powell; her companion of 21 years, Donald Cravens; grandchildren, Joseph Abresch, Kalib Abresch, Bree Stanley, John Rinehart, Troy Powell, Ryan Powell, and Alicia Coffman; great-granddaughter, Amelia Powell; sister, Sharon (Eugene) Bray; nephews, Brad (Polly) Bray, Mike (Katie) Bray, and Doug (Sandy) Bray.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; sons, Jeff Powell and Greg Powell; daughter, Cindy Stanley; second husband, George Cresto.

A graveside service will take place at 11:30 am on Saturday November 18, 2023, at Mound Cemetery, with Pastor Jason Grant officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10 am to 11 am on Saturday November 18, 2023, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main Street, Russiaville. MaKenzie Nicole Stepler

MaKenzie Nicole Stepler was born on June 15, 1990, in Stuttgart, Germany and entered into eternal rest on November 13, 2023 in Kokomo, Indiana. She graduated from Tipton High School in 2009 and had been accepted to Ivy Tech in Kokomo where she had planned to attend and graduate with a degree as a Veterinary Technician. A lover of all animals large and small, she had a soft spot for those who were lost or abandoned, especially cats and dogs. Kenzie was very creative and had a keen interest in tie-dye, art, and music. She loved to draw, and you would often find her listening to the Grateful Dead. Her daughter Naomi was the love of her life. They spent many hours doing crafts, tie-dying tee shirts, painting, reading stories, taking walks, and baking cookies. MaKenzie was a friend to all and would gladly offer others a helping hand without expecting anything in return. She was a free spirit with a loving soul, a consummate modern-day hippy who was loved by all.

MaKenzie is preceded in death by her sister, Sophie Stipes and her grandparents John and Bonnie Stepler. She is survived by her daughter, Naomi Price; her mother, Kimberly Shrock; father and step-mother, John M. Stepler II (Sandra); siblings, Shandi Burke (William), Johnna Stepler (JD), Max Stepler, Kolton Stipes, Gabby Stipes, Allison Stipes, Jimmy Tune (Destinee), and Jared Tune; aunts, Kelly Stepler, Rhonda Epp, Stacy Tucker, and Celeste Tomaszycki (Al); as well as, many loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A funeral service and celebration of her life will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Ellers Mortuary, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46902, with family receiving friends from noon to 3PM with a service immediately beginning at 3PM. Interment will be held at 4PM at Greenlawn Cemetery, 50N and County Rd. N 780E, Greentown, Indiana 46936.

Jean Marie Barsoda

Jean Marie Barsoda, 78, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away November 14, 2023. She was born on July 20, 1945 in Kokomo, IN the daughter of Raymond and Marjorie (Kercheval) Lytle. She married Richard Barsoda, on September 14th, 1996. She was the co-owner of North Drive-In Flea Market.

Jean is survived by her loving husband, Richard; children, Scott Lemons, Todd Lemons, Michelle (Chris) Fogerty, Elizabeth Jean Heflin; grandchildren, Shawn Lemons, Christian Lemons, Abbey Denney, Cameron Lemons, Kristan Lemons, Brooklynn DeWeese, Allyson Fogerty, Logan Bradley, Baylee Fogerty, Shane Richter, Dan Heflin, Laura Heflin; siblings, Jane (Dennis) Cohee and Roger (Marty) Lytle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Brian Lemons; and sister Pam Lytle.

Visitation will take place on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm.
