Charles “Charlie” Harlan
Charles “Charlie” Harlan, 95, Kokomo, passed away at 9:40 am on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Northwoods Village. He was born in Wabash County on January 7, 1928, to the late Charles and Nina A. (Bussard) Harlan. On April 25, 1954, in Richvalley, IN, he married Marilyn Higgins, and she survives.
Charlie graduated from Wabash High School and attended Manchester College. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps, where he attained the rank of Cpl., his main assignment was Photography Measure and Analysis. He worked for the United States Post office and retired after 18 years of service. He was an avid reader and wrote a few “western” books. He loved to be in his recliner, watching IU, and the Indianapolis Colts.
Along with his wife Marilyn, Charlie is survived by his children, Carol Harlan, Dave Harlan, and Joe Harlan; grandchildren, Andrew Harlan, Jordan (Chantel) Harlan, Rachel (Ryan) Mummert, and Jessica Harlan; great-grandchildren, Logan Harlan, Ethan Harlan, Emily Harlan, Bella Banks, Iris Harlan, Ivy Harlan, and Landon Rink; brother, Dean (Susan) Harlan; sister, Ann Miles McCammon; and several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Thomas Harlan.
A funeral service will take place at 11 am on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with his nephew, Kevin Miles officiating. Entombment will take place in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, with military honors provided by the United States Army and the VFW Military Rites Team. Friends may visit with the family from 5 pm to 8 pm on Monday, November 20, 2023, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kokomo VFW or the Howard County Public Library.
Margaret Ann Chambers
Margaret Ann Chambers, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at 11:25 am on November 9, 2023, in Kokomo, Indiana. Born on October 21, 1944, in Lutrell, Tennessee, she was a beacon of love, generosity, and faith throughout her 79 years of life.
Margaret was the cherished daughter of Ruth C. (Slaughter) Damewood and Estel H. Damewood, who preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by the love of her life; her husband; Larry Chambers, son; Danny Courter, and her brothers, Clifford, and Kenneth Damewood. Despite these losses, Margaret's spirit remained unbroken, and she continued to spread love and warmth to everyone around her.
Margaret was a proud graduate of Kokomo High School, Class of 1964. After graduation, she embarked on a fulfilling career at Delco Electronics, where she served diligently until her retirement. Her colleagues remember her as a hardworking and dedicated professional who brought joy and positivity to the workplace.
In her personal life, Margaret was a woman of many talents and interests. She had a passion for crafts, sewing, and crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her artistic spirit. She also loved shopping and traveling, always eager to explore new places and experiences. These hobbies brought her immense joy and allowed her to share her creativity and adventurous spirit with those around her.
Margaret is survived by her loving family, who will forever cherish her memory. She leaves behind her stepchildren Jarred Chambers and Debbie Seacrest, goddaughter, Amy Hicks; her grandchildren, Sarah Courter, Nathan Courter, Cody Hicks (Maramia) and Grace Ghaznawi (Mason), Dakota Hicks; her great-grandchildren, Faith, Teaven, King, Cyncere, Phoenix, Oliva, and Violet; her son, Randy Courter; her sister, Esther Johnson; and her brother; Alvin Damewood. Preceded in death are her parents Ruth C. Each of them holds precious memories of Margaret's love, kindness, and generosity.
Margaret's life was a testament to her faith and her love for her family. She was a woman of deep conviction, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her generous spirit touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In remembering Margaret, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, generosity, and faith. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and her memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Rest in peace, Margaret Ann Chambers, your love and light will forever shine in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held at One Church (Nazarene); 2734 South Washington Street Kokomo, IN 46902 Monday, November 20, 2023, at 6 p.m. Friends and family may visit from 5-6 p.m. prior to the service. Chaplain Charles "Dan" Hopkins will officiate.

Stephanie Jo Murray
Stephanie Jo Murray, 36, passed away on Monday, November 13,2023, at her home. She was born on July 28, 1987, in Kokomo, the daughter of Robert S. and Tamela Jane (Jackson) Oglageo.
Stephanie attended Kokomo High School. She loved Diamond Painting, her dogs, shopping, and music. She enjoyed being on Facebook and TikTok where she had many followers. Stephanie liked spending time with her family and friends and will be dearly missed by many.
Staphanie is survived by her mother, Tamela (Ronald Anderson) Oglageo; brothers, Nicholas S. (Kaila) Oglageo, Briceston Anderson, Nathan Anderson, and Brandon Anderson; partner, Rob Hurt; aunt, Cindy Oglageo; uncle, Jim King; grandmother, Vickie Oglageo; former husband, Terry Murray; special friends, Alicia and Stan Jarvis, and Matthew Fetter; several cousins; and dogs, the loves of her life, Rockey and Bailey.
Preceding Stephanie in death was her father, Robert Oglageo; aunt, Karen Sue King; grandparents, Joyce L. (Virkler) McFarland, Coleman Jackson, Henry McFarland, Robert T. Oglageo, and Madeline Pendergrass Oglageo; and dog, Durango.

Herschel Samuel Crain Sr.
Herschel Samuel Crain Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, was called home to be with the Lord on November 17, 2023. Born on August 13, 1944, in Kokomo, IN, Herschel lived a life filled with love, intelligence, and generosity. His life was a testament to the power of hard work, dedication, and the love of family.
Herschel was a proud graduate of Miami High School, class of 1961. After graduation, he embarked on a successful career in construction. As a self-employed contractor, he built more than just houses; he built a legacy of hard work and determination that will continue to inspire his family and friends. His work was not just a job, but a passion, a testament to his love for creating and building.
In addition to his work, Herschel had a deep love for MOPAR cars. He could often be found in his garage, working on a car, a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. His love for cars was matched only by his love for playing cards, hunting, and fishing. These hobbies brought him great joy and provided many a tale to tell his grandchildren.
Herschel was a man of great love. He was a loving father to his children; Herschel Samuel Crain Jr., Mark Allen Crain, Tracy Renee Chauvaux (Rick), Cindy Lou Crain, Brandi Rose Crain, and Samantha Rae Smith. He was a doting grandfather to Lisa Nicole, Ricky, Noah, Kevin, Matt, and Phillip. His love extended to his siblings; Sarah Porter (Danny), and Gene Crain (Judy). Herschel's love for his family was a beacon, a guiding light that will continue to shine in their hearts.
Herschel was preceded in death by his parents, Louie Crain and Violet (McIntire) Crain, his loving wife of 48 years Georgia Louise Crain, siblings; Marshall Crain (Annie) and John Crain, and a granddaughter; Kaylynn. Their memories will forever be cherished, and their love will continue to guide Herschel's family.
Herschel was a man of great intelligence. He had a mind that was always curious, always seeking to learn more. His intelligence was not just in books, but in life. He had a wisdom that came from experience, from living a life filled with love and hard work.
Herschel was a man of great generosity. He was always willing to lend a hand, to help those in need. His generosity was not just in material things, but in his time, his love, and his wisdom. He gave freely of himself, asking nothing in return.
Herschel Samuel Crain Sr. was a man who lived his life with love, intelligence, and generosity.
