Betty L. Shepherd

Betty L. Shepherd, 93, passed away on November 24, 2023, at Wellbrooke of Kokomo. She was born in Granite, Oklahoma on March 3, 1930, to Fred and Sally (Thurman) Vincent, the fifth of 13 children. On July 9, 1949, Betty married Clifton Shepherd while he served in the United States Army; he preceded her in death on February 18, 2015.

Betty and Clifton moved to Kokomo in 1952 and spent 65 loving years together. That same year she went to work for Delco Radio, a division of General Motors, and retired in 1987. Betty was the keeper of the family’s stories; she loved to recount the tales of the lives of family members and friends, and stories of her own youth. She was a member of the First Nazarene Church of Kokomo (now One Church) and the United Auto Workers.

Betty is survived by her children, Danny Steve (Sharon) Shepherd of Kokomo, Jeff (Barb) Shepherd of DeLand, Florida, Monelle “Kathy” Shepherd Riley of Covelo, California, and Barry (Jerri Lynn Davis) Shepherd of Kokomo; along with six grandchildren, Stacey Shepherd, Danny (Nicole) Shepherd, Anna (Chris Tillack) Collins, Ella Shepherd, Clifton Riley, and Corbin Shepherd; five great-grandchildren, Kiersten (Andrew) Dornan, Harrison Collins, Calion Riley, Dylan Tillack, and Zola Tillack; and two great-great-grandchildren, Brooklynn Dornan and Lakelyn Dornan.

She will meet in Heaven her husband, Clifton, parents, and three grandchildren, Justin Shepherd, Mason Riley and Weston Riley.

Her survivors also include siblings Linda Jesse, Gary (Georgia Ann) Vincent, and Connie (Rich) Bannick, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd, Kokomo, with Pastor Tim Gates officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 12:00 pm until the time of the service on Friday, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Sunset Memory Gardens. Wilburn Samuel Coy II

Wilburn Samuel Coy II, 69, Frankfort, passed away on Tuesday November 21,2023 at his home. He was born on August 15, 1954, to the late Wilburn S. and Mary E. (Brown) Coy. He married Trina White in 1973, and she preceded him in death on November 13, 2011.

Wilburn enjoyed taking care of his lawn and gardening. He was a collector of Cub Cadet lawn mowers, and he liked working on them. Most of all he loved his family, especially the close bond he had with his great-grandchildren.

Wilburn is survived by his children, Sandra Coy (Robb Thompson), and Robert “Nevin” Coy; grandchildren, Caitlyn Smith, Blazia Sallee, Hailey Smith, Brinzlee Sallee, and Braiden Coy; great-grandchildren, Rylan Kanatzer, Raelynn Owens, and Lakeland Sallee; siblings, Cathy Caldwell, and Susie Camp.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Trina; daughter, Heather Arnold; mother and father-in-law, Sharon and Kenneth Short.

In keeping with Wilburn’s wishes there will be no services. Stout & Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
