Ruth V. (Lawson) Baker
Ruth V. (Lawson) Baker, 89, Kokomo, passed away at her residence on December 13, 2023. She was born on March 14, 1934, to the late Otis and Etta Mae (Rutherford) Lawson in Bearden, Tennessee. On May 25, 1951, in Knoxville, Tennessee she married William H. Baker, and he preceded her in death on October 8, 2008.
Ruth enjoyed rummage sales, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Brenda (Don) Moore, Phyllis McKay, Patricia Guge, and Lisa (Paul) Carlile; grandchildren, Melody Berry, Kim Purtee, Cassie Dodson, Carrie Poe, Michele Martin, Shannon Goad, Christina Anderson, Nathan Carlile and Aaron Carlile; 21 great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Gladys Spivey.
In addition to her husband William, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Joseph Carlile; sisters, Madeline Capps, Novella Disney, Martha Spalding, and Brenda Breedon; and brothers, Cletus, George, and Leon Lawson.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Hasler Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main Street Greentown, with Pastor Bradley Collette officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Cemetery in Amboy. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 am until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hasler & Stout Funeral Home in Ruth’s memory to assist the family with final expenses.
Mrs. Perry Belinda Bowens
Mrs. Perry Belinda Bowens was born on Oct. 23, 1932, and passed on Dec. 16, 2023. Visitation will take place on Thu., Dec. 21, from 10 a.m. until noon at Second Missionary Baptist Church, 818 N. Apperson Way. The funeral will take place following visitation.

Geneva Pearl (Smith) Deutsch
Geneva Pearl (Smith) Deutsch passed from this life Wednesday, December 13, 2023. She was born April 19, 1937, in Tipton, Indiana to Willie Reno and Ollie A. (Woods) Smith. She attended school in Sharpsville, Indiana and graduated from Sharpsville High School with the class of 1955. After high school she worked in Kokomo for Turner Department Store and then in 1965 she moved to Miami, Florida and began working for Bal Harbor Apartments as a bookkeeper. There she met her husband, Gerson I. Deutsch, and they were married April 25, 1967. They enjoyed 20 years together until his death November 14, 1987.
Geneva moved to Kokomo after Gerson passed away and enjoyed many years with her family and friends. She was a very caring and loving person who took care of her family when called upon to do so. She enjoyed her backyard oasis of flowers and bird feeders. She liked to travel around Indiana with her sisters visiting the State Parks and wineries. Geneva was part of a group of friends that would meet for breakfast and dinner out every week, and they did this for many years.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents Reno and Ollie, husband Gerson, sisters Cora (Carl) Cody, Joyce (Meredith) Grimme, Glenna (Robert) Shelley, and Karlene Smith. She was the very best Aunt to her nieces and nephews and preceding her in death are Gary W. Cody, Jeffrey N. Grimme, and Chad M. Smith.
Geneva is survived by her siblings; S. Karen (Dale) Newcomer, Reno P. “Bud” (Delana) Smith, and Richard A. (RuthAnn) Smith; her nephews, Mitchell (Jenny) Newcomer, Mark (Tammy) Newcomer, Derek Smith; her nieces, Carol (William) Railey, Susan (Terry) Phillips, Jill Dones, Robyn (Ken) Staton, Chris (Rodger) Moon, Carla (Howard) Booth, and their families.
Geneva is also survived by her step-children; Richard (Billie) Deutsch, Sherry Deutsch, and Laurie (Russ) Rucks, three grandsons, one granddaughter and their families who reside in Florida.
The family would like to mention Mike Bergstrom who started out as a contractor hired to do some work and became like a grandson to her. He made sure her driveway was always cleared and if anything needed to be repaired, he made sure it was done for her. The family is very thankful for all he has done for her over the years.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. January 13, 2024, with visitation one hour prior at Bethel Tabernacle Church of God, 661 W 400 S, Kokomo, Indiana with Pastor Steve Branstutter presiding. Geneva will be interred in Fred Hunter’s Hollywood Memorial Gardens West, Hollywood, FL. Memorial contributions in Geneva's name should be directed to Bethel Tabernacle Church of God, 661 W 400 S, Kokomo, Indiana 46902. James Eugene Lowe, Jr.
James Eugene Lowe, Jr., 58, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away December 15, 2023. He was born on April 15, 1965 in Kokomo, Indiana the son of James, Sr. and Debra Lowe (Taylor). He married Ava Lowe (Walker) who survives.
James loved spending time with his grandchildren and being on the lake fishing.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Ava Lowe of Kokomo, IN; father, James Lowe, Sr. of Kokomo, IN; brothers, Victor Walker of Kokomo, IN; Scott Walker of Kokomo, IN; David Walker of Temple, TX; sister, Rose Lejeune of Kokomo, IN; sister-in-laws, Twana Brown of Kokomo, IN; Nan Walker of Galveston, IN; Sandy Walker of Kokomo, IN; Kandy TurnPaugh of Temple, TX; children, Darin, Sammi, Ashley (JR), Lil Jimmy, Richard, Casey all of Kokomo, IN; 17 grandchildren all of Kokomo, IN.
He was preceded in death by his mother, two grandchildren, four brothers and one sister-in-law.
