Loretta V. Brown

Loretta V. Brown, 91, Kokomo, passed away at 7:55 am Friday February 23, 2024, at her home. She was born May 26, 1932, in Claypool, the daughter of the late Howard R. & Mabel L. (Hepler) Kinney. She was married to Robert L. Brown who preceded her in death in 1987. She then married Robert Hedrick who also preceded her in death.

Loretta was a graduate of Burket High School. She retired from Eastern High School where she worked in the cafeteria. Loretta loved to cook and entertain and attended First Church of the Nazarene, now One Church.

Loretta is survived by her daughters, Linda S. (David) Troyer and Sheryl J. (Jim) Johnson; son-in-law, Timothy Grinslade; stepsons, Gary Hedrick and Michael Hedrick; sisters, Connie (John) Howard and Bonnie (Charles) Brawiler; grandchildren, Travis (Jill) Trott, Merideth (Jeff) Dean, Ryan (Gina) Johnson, Brett (Shannon) Johnson, Terry (Jessica) Grinslade and Tony (Yonda) Grinslade; 12 great-grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert Brown and Robert Hedrick; daughter, Sharon K. Grinslade; sisters, Kathleen Kinney, Betty Hartman and Helen Whetstone; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Brown.

Funeral service will be held at Noon on Thursday February 29, 2024, at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main Street, Greentown, with Pastor Dale Fouch officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 am until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Gayla “Gail” M. Sturtsman

Gayla “Gail” M. Sturtsman, 76, Russiaville, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at her home. She was born in Tennessee on August 13, 1947, to the late James I. and Margaret (Gidson) Cooke. She married Robert Sturtsman on October 16, 1976, and he preceded her in death on May 24, 2002.

Gail graduated from Kokomo High School. She was a Supervisor at GM and retired after 30 years of service. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, and painting. She loved spending time with her family, pets, and listening to music.

Gail is survived by her children, Kyle M. (Tawnya) Sturtsman of Greentown, Daniel P. (Stacy) Lushin of Kokomo, James P. (Marti) Lushin of Kokomo, Matthew S. (Laura) Lushin of Delphi; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Kimberly Moralez of Peru; aunt, Connie Sue Pace of Lenoir City, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, one brother, and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E Main St, Russiaville, with Pastor Joyce Harris officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 1 pm to 3 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Kokomo Memorial Park at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Stout & Son Funeral Home to help Gail’s family sponsor a family in need for Christmas.

Eileen Mae Ward

Eileen Mae Ward, age 95, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Eileen was born in Kokomo, Indiana to Orville Sr. and Floetta (Kercheval) Barnett on April 29, 1928.

She is survived by her son Lawrence Ward; grandchildren, Travis Ward, Trena (JD) Corey, Andrea (Scott) Shaffer and Joshua (Tiffani) Barnes; brother, Bob (Linda) Barnett; and sisters, Beverly Foster and Emmi Barrett; as well as 20 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Ward, Sr.; parents, Orville and Floetta; son, William Henry Ward, Jr.; grandson, Troy Ward; brothers, Orville Barnett, Jr., Eugene Barnett, Ed Barnett, Jim Barnett, and Emmett Barnett; and sisters, Wilma Jo Powell, Thelma Lily, and Evelyn Barrett.

A time of visitation for Eileen will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ellers Mortuary, 725 S. Main Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46901. A funeral service will occur Friday, March 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Ellers Mortuary.

Eileen will be laid to rest in Crown Point Cemetery, 1101 E. Sycamore St., Kokomo, IN 46901.
