James Woodrow “Jimmy” Maddox II
James Woodrow “Jimmy” Maddox II, 75, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent in Kokomo. He was born on October 6, 1948, in Kokomo, IN, the son of the late James W. and Betty J. (Kollmar) Maddox Sr.
Jimmy, also known as “Mad-Dog” to his friends, graduated from Northwestern High School. He worked as a Crib Attendant for Delco Electronics for 31½ years. Jimmy loved fishing, camping, mushroom hunting, and going to the lake, especially at Sugar Island, Michigan. He loved to play the guitar and sing. Jimmy liked to cook, enjoyed riding Harleys, building model train sets, and was the biggest fan of IU basketball. Above all, he loved his family and his dogs.
Jimmy is survived by his children, Joshua (Meagen) Ebeling, Megan Maddox, James W. Maddox III, Mitchell Maddox, and Gennifer Jarvis; grandchildren, Brooklyn Jarvis, Raeleigh Jarvis, Nevaeh Wilson, Kaelynn Wilson, Brayden Eitelman, Nevaeh Gonzalez, Alayah Ebeling, and one on the way, Kiyah Ebeling; and sister, Janice (Jack) Gornall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Glen “Bob” Maddox; nephew, Rodney “Rod” Maddox; and beloved dog, Casey Jones.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, with Pastor Tim Tranbarger officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Point Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 am until the time of the service on Tuesday, at the funeral home. William Richard Godsil
William Richard Godsil, 59, of Kokomo, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024. He was born July 23, 1964, in Kokomo, to Gary Bernard and Dixie Lee (Hughes) Godsil. On January 24, 2008, he married Ann Marie Johnson, in Noblesville, and she survives.
William graduated grom Kokomo High School in 1982. He worked for Button Motors, McGonigal’s, Recreation Unlimited, and was currently employed at Chrysler/Stellantis. William was an artist who enjoyed drawing and painting. He also enjoyed traveling, vacations, music, and cherished spending time with his family. He was a loving husband and father. William loved the Lord and was a member of Kokomo Christian Fellowship.
In addition to his wife, Ann Godsil, survivors include his children, Ruth Godsil, Noah Godsil, and Royce Collins; mother, Dixie (Ralph) Burton; brothers, Bobbie Godsil and Thomas Godsil; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Michael Godsil.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Kokomo Christian Fellowship, 600 S. Dixon Rd., Kokomo, with Pastor Nicky Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. Carolyn Sue (Bennett) Wheeler
Carolyn Sue (Bennett) Wheeler, 85, of Columbus, IN, passed away at 1:49 pm Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Columbus Regional Hospital. She was born November 6, 1938, in Howard County, IN to Dwight and Lillian (Heaton) Bennett.
Carolyn attended Western School Corporation and graduated from high school in 1956. After receiving a Bachelor’s in Education from Taylor University in 1960, she married Charles J. Wheeler on July 10, 1960, and he survives. In 1966, Carolyn earned a Master’s in Education from Ball State University. Her teaching career began at Clay Township School in Miami County from 1960-1962. She then became a teacher at Western School Corporation in Russiaville, IN. She retired from Western in 1994, having taught there for 31 years in the areas of language, arts, and history. She was a life-long member of the Happy Homemakers Extension Club in Howard County.
Carolyn and her husband Charles relocated in 2004 to Elizabethtown, IN (Bartholomew County) to enjoy their grandchildren and their activities, including baseball and softball. Until that time, they spent their entire lives in the Howard County area. In 2012, they moved to Columbus, IN.
She was a faithful member of Courtland Avenue Friends Church before moving to Bartholomew County, when she became a member of Community Church of Columbus.
Carolyn’s past time has been to research her family history and volunteer in the genealogy department of the Kokomo Howard County Library. After moving to the Columbus area, she continued her research for her German and English ancestors and shared her information with relatives. She also enjoyed traveling around the country with her husband, Charles, to listen to their favorite gospel music groups. But her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband Charles, she is survived by her children, Stephen Wheeler of Carmel, Cheryl (Todd) Hostetler of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Tyler (Raeanna) Hostetler, Luke (Kari) Hostetler; brother, Richard Bennett, and sister, Judith Sellers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, William Bennett, Ted Bennett, Paul Bennett and John Bennett, and sister Maxine Jones.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 to 8 pm Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Stout & Son Funeral Home – Russiaville Chapel, 200 East Main Street, Russiaville, IN 46979. Funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the funeral home, with Pastor Bill Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in New London Cemetery. Anthony “Tony” Robert Janes
Anthony “Tony” Robert Janes, 28, passed away unexpectedly in Fort Collins, CO, on February 8, 2024. He was born on April 8, 1995, in Lafayette, IN, to Erika Matuszewski and Robert Janes.
He graduated from Northwestern High School, starring on their swim and soccer teams. He was formerly a lifeguard at Kokomo Beach. Tony joined the United States Army and became a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne in Ft. Bragg, NC. After he was Honorably Discharged, he moved to Colorado and received an Associate’s degree and planned to finish his degree at Colorado State University. He was currently employed with Save-a-Tree. He was an avid golfer who had a beautiful swing. Tony loved fishing, hunting, skiing, snowboarding, hiking, climbing, and paddle boarding – all were reasons for him moving to Colorado. He loved playing card games and board games with his friends and family.
Tony is survived by his mother, father, stepparents; sister, Madelyne Janes; brothers, Julion Creason, Jaxon Creason; stepsiblings, Alec, Derek, Hannah; loving grandparents, Darlene Janes, Patt and Ed Matuszewski; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert H. Janes.
