Fred W. Schaefer
Fred W. Schaefer, 86, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Community Howard Regional Health, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 10, 1937, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Frederick E. and Susan M. (Flegel) Schaefer. He married Sharon J. Merwin of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, on September 25, 1965, in Milwaukee.
As a ROTC candidate, Fred attended and graduated from Marquette University in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. After college, he proudly served in the United States Navy Reserve from 1959-1962, earning the rank of Lieutenant. After the Navy, Fred started his career in Electrical Engineering at General Motors in Milwaukee, and later took a job with Martin Marietta Corporation in the Denver, Colorado, area for two years. He then returned to GM in Kokomo, Indiana, at Delco Electronics, where he retired after 32 years.
Fred enjoyed spending his free time golfing, playing tennis, racquet ball, hiking, sailing, camping, and fishing. He was a huge Green Bay Packers fan and a season ticket holder. He also enjoyed traveling, fishing trips to Canada, wintering at his home in Ft. Myers, Florida, and family vacations.
Fred is survived by his children, Susan (Chris) Wagner, Scott (Yvonne) Schaefer, and Amy (Greg) Davis; grandchildren, Samuel Wagner, Melody Wagner, Zacharie (Angie) Schaefer, Alexandria (Michael) Ellis, Meagan (Tyler) Sanders, Mallory Davis, and Emily Davis; great-grandchildren, Lillie, Oakley, Carter, Harper, Nathan, Lane, Luke, and one more on the way; brother, David (Janet) Schaefer; and nieces and nephews, Mark (Lynn) Schaefer, Anne (Ron) Gneo, and Matt (Betsy) Schaefer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and the love of his life, Sharon, after 54 years of marriage.
Fred was a member of Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Kokomo, and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated there at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 10, 2024. Burial will follow Albright Cemetery with military honors provided by the US Navy and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Sharon K. McKibben
Sharon K. McKibben, 70, of Kokomo, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thursday, August 8, 2024, from her home. She was born July 19, 1954, in Kokomo to Jack E. and Betty A. (Blackburn) Snyder. She married Jim McKibben on June 25, 1988, in Miami, Indiana, and he preceded her in death in May of 2012.
Sharon was a 1973 graduate of Maconaquah High School in Bunker Hill. During her working years, she worked at Speedway, Wasson’s Department Store, Red Barn, and B.J.’s Fashion. She was a member of Bennetts Switch Community Church and taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed all kinds of crafts and spending time with her cats.
Surviving family include her mother, Betty Snyder of Kokomo; brother, Norm (Kathy) Snyder of Kokomo; and sister, Joyce (Darrell) Colburn of Miami. She is also survived by brother-in-law, Larry McKibben of Bloomington, IN, and David McKibben of Kokomo. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Jeremy (Andrea) Snyder, Mat (Valerie) Snyder, Kelly (Mark) Walton, Jennifer Hain, Jami (Jake) Warren, Jessica (Vince) Vlazney, Tony (Christina) McKibben, and Davina, Kaya, and Anissa McKibben. She is also survived by 11 great nieces and nephews and her beloved cats, especially Tigger.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 11, 2024, from 3–5 p.m. at Bennetts Switch Community Church, 2261 Indiana Hwy 18, Kokomo, IN 46901. Funeral time will follow at 5:00 p.m. with brother Norm Snyder officiating.

Raven Nicole Turner
Raven Nicole Turner, 25, Kokomo, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024, at her home. She was born May 4, 1999, in Kokomo, the daughter of Brandon Turner & Heather Kinney.
Raven was a 2017 graduate of Kokomo High School and had attended Ivy Tech Community College. She worked for St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo as a CNA, and Majestic Care in Sheridan, IN. Raven was full of life; from being an avid music fan of the Beatles, Pink Floyd, and One Direction, to taking her love outdoors in nature with concerts, gardening, camping, crystals, and the stars aligned above. She had a great sense of humor and knew how to make everyone smile within their heart. She loved being around her family, friends, and people everywhere. She was a caring, giving soul. Going out of her way to help others made her feel at her best. She loved her pet babies: Venus, Floyd, Francis, and Julia. Raven loved this Earth. She had joy, she had fun, she had seasons in the sun. She left an immortal imprint on every soul she touched. She will be forever missed, and that sun will never stop smiling on her beautiful face.
Raven is survived by her mother, Heather Kinney; father, Brandon (Shawna) Turner; fiancé, Nahum Gibson; siblings, Matthew Turner, Khloe Turner, Braden Turner, Kalyn Turner, Rylee Rushin and Avery Rushin; grandfather, Sean Kinney; nephew, Luka Turner; aunts & uncles, Michelle (Jason) Rush, Erica (Mark) Turner, Bre (Dustin) Lawson, Khristal Williams, Trevor (Arayleah) Townsend, Coleena Roseberry, Jennifer (Brett) Heflin and Leah (Roger) Mossholder; cousins, Brynlee Lawson, Isabelle Rush, Devin Edwards, Vaden Hartleroad, Lydia Turner, Raigan Heflin, Beck Heflin, Desiree Williams, Sydney Perdue, Waylon Mossholder, Wyatt Mossholder and Weston Mossholder.
Raven was preceded in death by her grandparents, Debra Israel, Lana Turner and Dennis Roseberry; and step-grandmother, Roxanne Kinney.

Diana J. Sweeney
Diana J. Sweeney, 77, Kokomo, passed away at 8:15 a.m., Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at her home. She was born on May 7, 1947, to the late Charles and Helen (Watson) Haworth. She married Thomas R. Sweeney on August 27, 1966, and he preceded her in death on December 24, 2013.
Diana graduated from Kokomo High School in 1965. She retired as a school bus driver for Kokomo Center Schools. She enjoyed reading, playing with her grandchildren, and watching their sporting events.
Diana is survived by her children, Robin Gaston, and Thomas R. Sweeney II; grandchildren, Nate (Kaytlynn) Gaston, Sebastian Sweeney, Jamie Sweeney, and Calin Sweeney; great-grandchildren, Rylen Sweeney, Phoebe Sweeney, Rowan Sweeney, Jayceeon Bryant, Mario Bryant, Bentley Bryant, Amari Sweeney, and Eastyn Gaston; sister, Debbie Turner; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband Thomas, she was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Tracey Sweeney; sisters, Jane Wilson and Kathy Haworth; and brother, Eddie Haworth.
A funeral service will take place at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, IN. 46902, with Pastor Mike Williams officiating. Mary Janet Woods Taylor
Mary Janet Woods Taylor, 84, Kokomo, passed away at 4:40 a.m. on Thursday August 8, 2024, at Brickyard Healthcare. She was born in Whitley County, KY, on March 22, 1940, to the late Jennings Bryan and Hettie (Sharp) Woods. On August 8, 1963, at the Nevada Church of God, she married Robert Lewis Taylor, and he preceded her in death on May 8, 1998.
Mary graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1958. She worked for and retired from Windsor Estates Nursing Home, where she was a CNA. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to church, reading her Bible, gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, crocheting, and crossword puzzles.
Mary is survived by her children, Martin Lewis (Erin) Taylor, James Michael (Alicia) Taylor, Amy Lizabeth (Ken) Roberts: grandchildren, Jalen, Jana, Andrew, Grant, Bryan, and Tanner; great-grandchild, Emory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; son, Craig Stephen Taylor; brothers, Arnold Woods, and James Woods; sisters, Imogene Rogers, and Arlene Hart.
A funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024, at the Church of God of the Union Assembly, 538 E. 400 S., Kokomo, IN. 46902, with Pastor Ronnie Bumgarner officiating.
