James Robert Robinson

James Robert Robinson, affectionately known as Jim or Robby, Kokomo, passed away on August 31, 2024, in Wayne, Michigan, at the age of 75. Born in Kokomo, Indiana, the son of the late Leroy A. & Mary E. (Benberry) Robinson. On December 15, 1979, in Kokomo, he married Nada V. Gerard, who preceded him in death on March 12, 2017.

Jim graduated from Perry Wood High School in Indianapolis and later from Indiana University at Kokomo in 1985. He built a successful career, initially working as an accountant at Ayr-Way and St. Joseph Hospital, before taking on the role of Financial Controller at Bona Vista, where he remained until his retirement. His professional and personal life was dedicated to sports. He was a revered coach at The American Legion Post 6 and Babe Ruth at Huston Park. His commitment to sports extended to his roles as a referee and umpire, where he officiated in eight state championships across three sports over 30 years. Notably, Jim was inducted into the Howard County Sports Hall of Fame in 2023. His excellence in officiating was recognized on a national level when he made the cover of REFEREE Magazine in 2012. Jim was also a member of the Big Ten Conference, IHSAA, NCAA & NFL Associations, highlighting his passion and dedication to athletics. Jim was a cherished member of his community and a respected figure in the world of sports. His hobbies revolved around his love for sports.

Jim's life was marked by significant achievements and milestones, including being part of the first all-African American crew to officiate a Power 5 football game during the Michigan vs. Minnesota game in 2020. His passion for sports was not just a profession but a lifelong dedication that also saw him involved in the NFL, where he had the honor of working at several Colts games.

Jim's legacy as a pillar in both his family and the sports community will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Jim leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Chiquita Marie DaCons; grandson, Kameron James DaCons; great-grandson, Kendryn James DaCons; sisters, Deborah Robinson and Michelle Walton; sisters-in-law, Connie Robinson and Leesa (Terry) Parsons; brother-in-law, Randy Gerard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nada; his brothers, Eddie, Gerald Sr., and Mark Robinson, and his sister, Phyllis Robinson.

A funeral service to honor Jim's life will be held at noon on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor Brian Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. William Michael “Bill” Boyle

William Michael “Bill” Boyle, aged 74, of Meridianville, Alabama, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 27, 1950, in Burlington, Iowa, to Edwin and Marguerite (Schwerin) Boyle.

Bill grew up in Antioch, California, where he graduated from Antioch High School. After completing his secondary education, he did his collegiate studies at San Jose State University obtaining a degree in Aeronautical Operations. Bill’s career began at NASA, and continued to Lockheed/Martin, where he retired from in 2000.

Bill was called to the ministry in early 1999. He and his family planted a church in Concordia, Kansas, where he was the Senior Pastor from 2000-2006. During this time, he was also the owner and operator of the local KFC. In 2006 Bill sold the business and moved to Texas, going to work at MEI Engineering, where he worked until 2012, at which time he joined the Missile Defense Agency division of the U.S. Government, which he retired from in 2021.

Bill loved God, family, trains, space, baseball, his dogs, and British MG cars. He loved to fly airplanes and for 2-3 years during his college years had his pilot’s licenses and flew locally in the San Jose area.

Bill is survived by his wife, Cindy (Osborn) Boyle, two children, Rebekah Devore (James) and David Boyle, all of Meridianville, Alabama; a sister, Ann Bowen of Pomona, Missouri, and is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Boyle.

The legacy Bill leaves is enriched by his knowledge of many subjects, teaching of the Bible and the lives he has touched. His family and friends will remember him for his sense of humor, love and Godly Spirit.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Peggy L. Foster

Peggy L. Foster, a beacon of joy and laughter, passed away on September 4, 2024, at the age of 69, after a courageous battle with cervical cancer. Born on August 7, 1955, in Lafayette, Indiana, Peggy's infectious smile and zest for life left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She departed from this world in Tipton, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Peggy was the daughter of the late Carol Hundley-Golden and Robert Golden and was lovingly raised alongside her sisters Lori (Rick) Deckard and Lisa Shoemake. Her family tree branched out to include her beloved children Aaron (Dyllan) Claxton, Chris Hundley, and her late daughter Suzanne Carolee Claxton. Peggy's joy was multiplied by her grandchildren Izaiah Claxton and Draven Cook, as well as her grandfur babies Niko, Yoda, and Buddy her fur child, special friends/sister Elizabeth Jane Dick and family, Darcy Ward and family, and many other chosen family and friends who all brought immense happiness to her life.

A proud graduate of Mishawaka High School, Peggy's professional journey was characterized by her long-standing role as a cashier at Marsh supermarket, where she was not only an employee but also a friend to many. Her warm greeting and genuine care for others made every interaction memorable.

Peggy's interests were as vibrant as her personality. An avid gamer, she found delight in playing games on her phone, often sharing her high scores and latest app discoveries with friends and family. Her sense of humor was unparalleled; Peggy was a jokester at heart, who loved having fun and making others laugh. Her passion for painting by number on her phone was matched by her enthusiasm for discussing politics, where she engaged in lively conversations with those around her.

Family was the cornerstone of Peggy's life. She treasured moments spent with her loved ones, whether it was taking trips to the zoo, visiting her hometown of Lafayette or to Mishawaka, or simply being together. Outdoors and in the embrace of nature, Peggy found peace and joy, often taking the opportunity to go for a steak at her favorite restaurant, Texas Roadhouse. Her philosophy was to live life to the fullest, and she did so with a beautiful smile that could light up any room.

Peggy was known to many as a second mom, a testament to her loving and nurturing spirit. Her ability to connect with people from all walks of life, to listen and to offer support, made her a cherished figure in her community. She embraced this role with open arms, providing guidance, laughter, and love to all who needed it.

Words that best describe Peggy are loving, funny, and passionate. She approached every day with a heart full of love and a desire to make the world a brighter place. Her laughter was contagious, her passion was inspiring, and her love was unconditional.

Peggy's absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She is survived by her family, who take comfort in the knowledge that her legacy of love and laughter will continue to live on in their hearts and the many lives she touched.

As we bid farewell to Peggy L. Foster, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey filled with laughter, love, and an unwavering passion for life. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Friends may gather from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Crossroads Community Church, 4254 S. 00 EW in Kokomo. A memorial service will follow at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor Brent Faulkner officiating. In lieu of flowers please make donations made to the Humane Society of Tipton County.

Abigail Ann Shumway

Abigail Ann Shumway was placed into the arms of her heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, Indiana. Time is never a factor in how strong the love of a parent is for their children. Even though her time was short, Abigail only knew love.

Abigail was the cherished daughter of Sean Shumway and Miranda Kinney. Abigail was loved and is survived by her siblings, Millie, Olivia, and Ruby Kinney, Duke Shumway; and her grandparents, Dwayne and Penny Campbell.

Always Mine
