Carol Margaret Humphreys

Carol Margaret Humphreys, 79, of Ionia, MI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 5, 1945, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to Raymond and Margaret (Johanssen) Gieszl.

Carol graduated from San Leandro High School in 1963. She was a devoted member of Temple Baptist Church in Ionia. She loved God and had unwavering faith in His love, presence, and provision. Her greatest joy in life was raising her five children, whom she loved sacrificially, choosing to stay at home to nurture and guide them. Later, she worked cleaning houses and offices, where she found special fulfillment in spending time with her elderly clients.

Carol’s deep love for people, especially her family, defined her. She was a compassionate, empathetic listener, and many turned to her for comfort and advice. Known for her generous spirit and fun-loving nature, she was full of life. Carol enjoyed Gospel music, singing, dancing, taking road trips, and knitting, even if her projects were often left unfinished.

Carol’s legacy of love continues through her children: David (Mary) Geivett, Jennifer (Jason) Humrichous, Gwendolyn (Joshua) Wilhite, Julianne Geivett, and Annamarie (Peter) Edgar; her grandchildren: Nick Geivett, Samantha (Adam) Donovan, Lynnea Humrichous, Ben Humrichous, Joe Humrichous, Sam Humrichous, Noah Humrichous, Isaac Humrichous, Maggie Wilhite, Anna Wilhite, Hope Wilhite, Alex Geivett, Elijah Edgar, Evelyn Edgar, Jane Edgar, and Clare Edgar; and her great-grandchildren: Logan Donovan and Autumn Donovan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Margaret Gieszl; her husband, Basil Humphreys; her sister, Marie Huckaby; her brother, John Gieszl; and Gerald Geivett.

A funeral service to honor Carol’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Rock Prairie Baptist Church, 421 Ash Street, Tipton. Visitation will take place before the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the church, with the committal at Fairview Cemetery.

Betty Jo Bell

Betty Jo Bell, 84, of Kokomo, IN, passed away October 17, 2024. She was born on March 1, 1940, in Tipton, Indiana, the daughter of Lawrence and Edith Paul (Collins). On December 22, 1956, she married Clyde Bell, who survives.

Betty's favorite thing to do was cooking. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and raising her family and numerous other children. Betty was a big-hearted person that everyone loved.

Surviving relatives include her husband Clyde Bell of Kokomo, IN; son, Larry Bell of Kokomo, IN; four daughters, Ellen Morgan (Mike) of Kokomo, IN; Kathy Greene (Matt) of Kokomo, IN; Sheila Bell of Kokomo, IN; Connie Ramberger of Kokomo, IN; brother, Clinton Paul of Florida; sister, Jenny Bell of Georgia; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Kenny Bell, daughter Debbie Ann Bell, numerous brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Ellers Mortuary. Funeral services 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Ellers Mortuary 725 S. Jacob “Jake” Graber

Jacob “Jake” Graber, 95 years old, of Muncie, peacefully slipped into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at his home. He was born in Daviess County, IN, on August 23, 1929, the son of the late Levi and Lydia (Wagler) Graber. On January 8, 1956, he married Tillie Miller, and she survives.

Jake was a farmer and carpenter. He later retired from Maconaquah Middle School where he served as a custodian. His favorite hobby was tinkering with woodwork in his barn. He was an active member of Parkview Mennonite Church in Kokomo.

In addition to his wife Tillie, Jake is survived by his children, Patricia Joy Graber, Kenton Earl Graber, Linda Kay (John) Taylor; sister, Nancy Wittmer; step-grandchildren, Christal Caldwell, Lisa (Brian) Chandler, Glenn Taylor, John Taylor, Melinda (Jeff) Hurst; sister-in-law, Sarah Graber; brother-in-law, Melvin Swartzendruber; and countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mahlon (Mattie) Graber, Adeline (Enos) Richer, Corrine (Henry) Wagler, Elizabeth (Homer) Stoll, Elmer (Anne) Graber, Louis (Wilma) Graber, Ezra (Ida) Graber, Arthur Graber, Mary Swartzendruber, Roseanna (Alva) Kemp; brother-in-law, Ora Wittmer; and step grandchild, Tonya Bell.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Parkview Mennonite Church, 1382 Co. Rd. E. 100 N., Kokomo, IN 46901. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2024, at the church with Pastor Frank Kandel officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family an hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will follow in Mast Hensler Cemetery. Mr. Odell Ford Jr.

Mr. Odell Ford, Jr., passed away on Oct. 16, 2024, in Kokomo. He was born on April 9, 1940.

During this time of profound loss, my heart reaches out to each of you with deepest sympathy and love. Mr. Odell Ford Jr. touched the lives of many, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever resonate in our hearts. His legacy of kindness, strength, and love continues to inspire and comfort us.

May you find solace in the love and support that surrounds you, and may the cherished memories you hold bring you peace during these difficult moments. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers, and we stand with you as you navigate this journey of grief and remembrance.

A funeral service for Mr. Ford will be held on Sat., Oct. 26, from noon until 2 p.m. at Fountain of Life Worship Center, 611 E. Jackson St. Visitation for friends and family will take place from 10-11:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service.

Brian Patrick Russell

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Brian Patrick Russell, a cherished father, son, brother, and friend, who left us on October 15, 2024, at the age of 49. Brian, a lifelong resident of Kokomo, Indiana, was born to his loving parents, William and Sue Russell, on December 20, 1974. His life was one of service and creativity, which he shared generously with all who knew him.

Brian's journey began in Kokomo where his vibrant spirit quickly became apparent. A proud graduate of Kokomo High School, he carried the values of hard work and dedication throughout his life. His commitment to his country was evident when he served in the United States Army from 1997 until 2000, an experience that shaped his courageous character.

After his honorable discharge, Brian returned to his hometown. His interests were as varied as they were engaging. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and camping, often venturing into the wilderness where he demonstrated his impressive survival skills. Brian's creative side was equally remarkable, as he was an amazing sculptor working with clay. His sculptures, ranging from lifelike renditions of family members to famous celebrities, showcased his exceptional talent and attention to detail.

A true modern renaissance man, Brian also immersed himself in the world of PC gaming, dedicating hours to exploring virtual landscapes and challenging himself with complex strategies. His love for entertainment extended to the silver screen, where he relished a good movie packed with action and comedy, appreciating the craft and escapism they provided.

Brian's generosity and loving nature were the bedrock of his existence. He was a man who put others before himself, always ready to lend a hand or offer support. His courage in the face of life's challenges was an inspiration to all, and his legacy of kindness is one that will continue to resonate.

Family was the cornerstone of Brian's world. He is survived by his devoted parents, William and Sue Russell; his brother, Tim Russell; his son, Branden Russell; his daughter, Jessica Birks; his cherished aunt, Denise Culbertson; and his uncle, Joe Culbertson. Brian was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Russell, whose memory he held close to his heart.

To know Brian was to know a man who lived with an open heart and an adventurous spirit. His absence leaves a void in the lives of those who loved him, yet his influence remains indelible. Brian Patrick Russell's story is one of a life well-lived, filled with passion, creativity, and the unyielding love of a man who gave so much to the world around him.

As we say goodbye to Brian, we celebrate the memories he has left us, the laughter he sparked, and the love he spread so freely. His journey on this earth was a testament to the beauty of a life filled with purpose and joy. Brian will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us every day.

Danney L. Smith

Danney L. Smith, 72, of Kokomo, passed away at 11:02 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Kokomo Healthcare. He was born February 12, 1952, in Kokomo, to Edward and Delpha Berdine (Wines) Smith.

Danney graduated from Northwestern High School in 1970 and worked at Delco for 34 years. He enjoyed hunting, motorcycles, and music. Danney was witty, funny, and charming, and he was always up for having a good time.

Survivors include his daughter, Modesta Smith; son, Justin Smith; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Teresa Smith; and brother, Eddie Smith.
