Rev. Lois Jean Glass

Rev. Lois Jean Glass, 72, of Tipton, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2025. Known by many as "Jeannie," she was born on July 6, 1952, in Carson City, Michigan, to her parents Rev. Robert Bruce White and Patricia (Bunker) White. Jeannie graduated from high school in Michigan in 1970. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Marion College in Indiana.

Jeannie dedicated her life to ministry and actively pursued her calling from 1990 through 2012. In 2000, she was ordained in the Indiana Central District of The Wesleyan Church. She had pastoral responsibilities with several churches in Indiana and Michigan, including Fowler and Tipton, Indiana, and Clio and Sheridan, Michigan. Jeannie fully embraced the pathway the Lord set for her life and allowed it to envelop every aspect. So often people were drawn to her gentle, kind, honest, and maternal nature and would seek her out for principled direction, encouragement, and prayer.

Jeannie always took the time to talk with whomever crossed her path. Her authenticity was felt, and people felt safe in her caring presence. Jeannie was a true prayer warrior, and because of her obedient walk with the Lord, many people understand the unwavering love of Christ.

Jeannie's children fully know what a blessing their mother will always be in their lives. She called out the best in them and encouraged them to be lifelong learners much like herself. Jeannie homeschooled her kids when they were young. She taught them to read and even gave a memorable lesson in dissection.

Jeannie was an excellent cook and baker, made homemade jam, and loved gardening. She also loved reading British mystery novels and was a faithful library patron wherever she lived.

Jeannie had the incredible talent of being able to sew anything, no pattern needed. If she could visualize it in her mind, she could create it. She also crocheted blankets, hand-smocked and embroidered sewing projects, and even learned a little lacemaking. She found many small ways to make the world more beautiful.

Jeannie was also an animal lover and had several cherished dogs and cats over the years and enjoyed feeding the birds.

In her later years, Jeannie was a loving Grandma and enjoyed finding thoughtful gifts for others. She was also a cancer survivor and treated even the chemo treatment room as a space to extend care. She prayed for those she met there long after her treatment was complete.

Her absence will be known and felt, but her life is an example of the impact one humble soul can have on a harsh world. She prayed fervently, invested in others, and encouraged as many people as she could along the pathway of life. Her favorite poem was "If I Can Stop One Heart from Breaking" by Emily Dickinson.

Those left to carry on Jeannie's legacy of love are her children Elizabeth Turner (John) & Ethan Glass (Lori), grandchildren Jack, Eleanor, and Lucy Turner, and Serenity, Corvyn, Carver, and Ronan Glass. Jeannie is also survived by her siblings Rev. Jon White (Linda), Verna Barkman (Dave), and Sarah Nightingale (Rev. Rich), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and former parishioners.

Jeannie was welcomed into Heaven by her parents Rev. Bruce & Pat White and in-laws Bob & Mary Glass.

A private memorial will be held at a later time.

Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Glass family in their time of need.

"She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instruction with kindness. She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness. Her children stand and bless her. There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all." Proverbs 31:25-29 NLT
