Richard Paul Bour

Richard Paul Bour, 89, Kokomo, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Peoria, IL, on September 7, 1935, to the late Robert J. and Julia M. (Bewer) Bour. He married Teresa Ann Molitor on June 21, 1958, and she preceded him in death on June 25, 2022.

Richard graduated from Spalding Institute in 1953 and received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1962 from Bradley University. He served for six years in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard. He worked for Delco Electronics as an Engineering Supervisor and retired in 1997 after 31.5 years of service. Richard was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, and a past member of the Eastside Little League Board and Howard School PTA. He enjoyed playing golf and watching his grandchildren’s activities.

Richard is survived by his children Dr. Robert J. (Suzan) Bour, Mary T. (Timothy) Vas, and James P. Bour, grandchildren Valerie (Chris) Dabelow, Zachary (Claire) Bour, Michael (Ashlee) Vas, Steve (Caroline) Vas, Chris (Megan) Vas, Erick (Ann Marie) Vas, Sarah (Jack) Perkins, Evan Bour, and Grant Bour, great-grandchildren Berkley Wray, Nolan Dabelow, Robert Dabelow, Kyler Bour, Audrey Bour, Maverick Vas, Owen Vas, Mason Morgan, Frederick Hoback, and baby Vas due soon, brother Brian (Pat) Bour, and sister Kathryn (Dave) Tyler.

He was preceded in death by his wife Teresa, parents Robert and Julia, sisters Barbara Cramer and Margaret Fulton, and daughter-in-law Allyce Bour.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington Street, Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. Peter Vanderkolk as celebrant. Burial will take place in Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors provided by the United States Air Force and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday at the church, with the Rosary offered at 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Poor Clares, St. Patrick Catholic Church or the Kokomo Rescue Mission. Wendell R. Lange

Wendell R. Lange, 88, Greentown, passed away at 3:07 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2025, at his home. He was born January 15, 1937, in Greentown, IN, to Raymond W. and Helen A. (Mast) Lange. On November 25, 1959, he married Julia K. Gordon, and she survives.

Wendell was a 1955 Eastern High School graduate and co-owner of Ray & Wendell’s auto service. He enjoyed country music, NASCAR racing, and was a lifetime member of the Tri-State Tractor and Engine Association.

He is survived by his wife Julia Lang, daughter Kathy (Jerry George) Lange, grandchildren Amber (Laurie) McLay, Kim Riddell, Nancy (Brandon Sumpter) Riddell, Bobbie Jo Riddell, Sarah (Adam) Riddell-Netzley, and Brady (Cayla) Lange, and great-grandchildren Christopher Thieke, Douglas Thieke, Zoe Thieke, Emma Lawson, Alekzander Beason, Naacal Cox, Shelby Isaac, Wyatt Riddell, Hailey Netzley, Zacharie Netzley, Trenton Netzley, Lylah Lange, Macayleigh Lange, and Jamisen Yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Dale Lange.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Hasler-Stout Funeral Home, 112 East Main Street, Greentown. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Carolyn Jean Foust

Carolyn Jean Foust (née Pugh), 81, of Greenwood, IN, passed away on the morning of June 28, 2025.

Carolyn was born on March 8th, 1944, to parents William Robert and Hazel Juanita (née Chadwell) Pugh in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After Carolyn graduated from Kokomo High School, Kokomo (Indiana), in 1962, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966 and a Master of Arts degree in 1971 (both from Indiana University, Bloomington).

After graduating from IU, Carolyn entered the workforce. Carolyn spent much of her working career at Stokely-Van Camp and later Caldwell-VanRiper, as Director of Marketing, before becoming the Director of Corporate and Community Affairs at the Indianapolis Star. During her decades-long career in marketing, Carolyn broke many glass ceilings and showed her friends and family what a strong, intelligent woman could accomplish in the workforce. During her very productive career, she received many industry awards. She was a role model to many.

On the 25th of January 1969, Carolyn married Irvin Rodney “Rod” Wolfcale, who tragically passed away on the 12th of April 1970, after an extended illness. On February 9, 1974, Carolyn married James “Jim” Donald Foust. On November 23, 1980, Jim and Carolyn welcomed a daughter, Rebecca, into the world.

Carolyn was a passionate woman with many interests. For many years, she was an avid birdwatcher and gardener. She could often be found with a trowel in hand. As a proud patron of the arts, she also greatly enjoyed attending concerts, operas, and plays. Carolyn traveled extensively throughout her life, where she enjoyed art, history, and architecture. Carolyn also adored reading. She particularly enjoyed books on history and religion. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Indianapolis for many years.

Carolyn was predeceased by her parents, husband Irvin “Rod” Wolfcale, daughter Rebecca Elizabeth Winton (née Foust), and brother Major (Ret.) Robert C. Pugh. She is survived by her sisters Carmen (Greg) Anderson of Idaho Falls, ID, Rebecca Corbitt of Las Vegas, NV, sister-in-law Donna K. Pugh of Colorado Springs, CO, stepchildren Sheryl (Tim) Morgan of Azle, TX, Bill (Amy) Foust of Azle, TX and their children, son-in-law Kyle Winton of Greenwood, IN, grandsons Benjamin Helton of New York, NY, and Brennan Guilkey of Greenwood, IN, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Kokomo on Thursday, July 3, at 2:00 p.m. The address is 1300 E. North St. Kokomo, IN 46901. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis, IN, an organization with a mission that Carolyn felt strongly about. Stephen (Steve) Lloyd Danforth

Stephen (Steve) Lloyd Danforth, 83, Greentown, passed away on June 29, 2025, in Kokomo. Born on March 10, 1942, in Peru, Indiana, to Lloyd and Marjorie (Hamman) Danforth, he dedicated much of his life to his family and his work. On November 9, 1963 he married Roberta Sue Highley, and she survives. Stephen retired as a general supervisor from Delco Electronics in 1997.

Steve was a member of the Converse Church of Christ, as well as various organizations, including the Greentown Lodge #341, Shriners, Elks, and Moose lodges. He was a dedicated Boy Scout leader and cherished his annual hunting trips with friends in Maine.

Steve was also a talented stained-glass artisan, creating beautiful works of art that reflected his meticulous and creative spirit. His passion for golf was well-known, highlighted by achieving the rare feat of a hole-in-one. For the past 25 years, he and Bobbi fulfilled their dream of living the lifestyle of “Winter Arizonians.” Most of all, he cherished time spent with family, especially his grandchildren.

He leaves behind a loving family: his wife Bobbi Danforth; children Victoria (Kevin) Flook, Stephen Scott (Melissa) Danforth, and Christopher Danforth; grandchildren Ethan (Juston) Flook, Levi (Taylor) Flook, Logan Flook, Taylor Flook, Tori Flook, Erica Flook, Samuel Danforth, Natalie Danforth, Jonathan Danforth, and Quinlan Danforth; great-grandchildren Cayden Flook, Ryland Flook, Adalyn Flook, Saiorse Flook, and Elsie Flook; and brothers Joseph and Phillip Danforth.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Hasler-Stout Funeral Home, 112 East Main Street, Greentown, Indiana. Friends and family are invited to visit from 2:00 p.m. until service time on Sunday at the funeral home. Barbara L. Schinlaub

Barbara L. Schinlaub, of Tipton, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025, at I.U. Health Tipton. Her 91 years of life started on October 31, 1933, in Tipton County when she was born to Arthur N. & Myrtle H. (Marks) Ley. She married James L. “Jim” Schinlaub on May 13, 1953, and he passed away on October 18, 1993, after 40 years of marriage.

Barbara’s smiling face was what you saw as you entered the Tipton County Extension Education Center as she worked there as a secretary from 1970-2007. She really enjoyed working with the 4-H youth, especially during the county fair. She was a graduate of the St. Joseph Academy in Tipton and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. At the church she belonged to the Altar Rosary Society and the Legion of Mary.

She is survived by two daughters Jill R. Rice and husband Thomas R. of Lebanon and Karen S. Clossin and husband Robert F. of Wichita, Kansas; two sisters Rozella Voss of Tipton and Kathy Phillips and husband Duane of Tipton.

Barbara had three grandchildren: Josh and wife Cortney; Jaime and husband Ryan; and Dawn. She also had three step-grandchildren Andy, Taylor, and Zachary, as well as two great-grandchildren Silas and Aydan.

She was preceded in death by one son Mark A. Schinlaub, one brother Harold Ley, and one sister Florence Morris.

A funeral service for Barbara will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Adam Mauman presiding. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Monday starting with a Rosary Service at 12:00, also at the church.

Sue Ellen Courtney

Sue Ellen Courtney, a beacon of laughter and wisdom, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, at the age of 80, in Kokomo, IN. Born on July 7, 1944, in Elwood, IN, she was the cherished daughter of Emma and John Snow. Sue Ellen's life was a testament to the power of love, humor, and resilience.

Sue Ellen's journey began as the heart of a bustling family. She grew up surrounded by her siblings, learning the values of kinship and camaraderie. Her life was further enriched when she married her beloved husband Charles Courtney, with whom she shared over four decades of unwavering partnership and love. Together, they built a family that became Sue Ellen's pride and joy.

Her laughter was contagious, and her wisdom was sought by all who knew her. Sue Ellen was the matriarch who guided her family with a gentle hand and a loving heart. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters Connie Guy, Brenda Snow, and Mary Hyden. Her legacy continues through her daughters Debbie McCool, Tina Russell, and Penny Chamness, and her adored grandchildren, Brent Russell, Nikki Trusty, Justin Chamness, Daniel Russell, Brandi Rodriguez, and Hollie Russell. The joy of her life was further multiplied by her 10 great-grandchildren, who will carry her spirit forward. Sue Ellen also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and her special cousin and best friend Sondra Phillips, all of whom were touched by her warmth and kindness.

Sue Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband Charles, her brothers Jerry, Elmer and Johnny Snow, her sister Carol Snow, and her son Jeffrey McCool. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she carried their memories with her every day.

A woman of simple pleasures, Sue Ellen found contentment in the quiet moments of life. She relished the time spent watching television while expertly solving puzzle books, a hobby that brought her immense joy and relaxation. Her greatest pleasure, however, was found in the company of her children and grandchildren. The time spent with her family was the essence of Sue Ellen's happiness, and those moments will be cherished by her loved ones forever.

Sue Ellen's presence was a gift to all who knew her. She was the embodiment of love, always ready with a joke to brighten someone's day or a piece of sage advice to guide them through life's challenges. Her absence will be deeply felt, but the memories she created with her family and friends will continue to inspire laughter, love, and wisdom for generations to come.

As we bid farewell to Sue Ellen Courtney, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that will be treasured as precious gems in the hearts of those who loved her. Her spirit, characterized by her humor, wisdom, and loving nature, will remain a guiding light for all who had the privilege of knowing her. Sue Ellen's story does not end with her passing but lives on through the lives she touched and the love she shared.

June Russell Gilstad

June Russell Gilstad, age 97, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Interment will take place in Minnesota.
